Then<n id="1" /> his son said to him, &#8216;Father, I have sinned against heaven<n id="2" /> and against you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.&#8217;<n id="3" />

The slave replied,<n id="1" /> &#8216;Your brother has returned, and your father has killed the fattened calf<n id="2" /> because he got his son<n id="3" /> back safe and sound.&#8217;

It was appropriate<n id="1" /> to celebrate and be glad, for your brother<n id="2" /> was dead, and is alive; he was lost and is found.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

I know<n id="1" /> what to do so that when I am put out of management, people will welcome me into their homes.&#8217;<n id="2" />

And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by how you use worldly wealth,<n id="1" /> so that when it runs out you will be welcomed<n id="2" /> into the eternal homes.<n id="3" />p>

For just like the lightning flashes<n id="1" /> and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.<n id="2" />

yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out<n id="1" /> by her unending pleas.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />

Won&#8217;t<n id="1" /> God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out<n id="2" /> to him day and night?<n id="3" /> Will he delay<n id="4" /> long to help them?

And when Jesus came to that place, he looked up<n id="1" /> and said to him, &#8220;Zacchaeus, come down quickly,<n id="2" /> because I must<n id="3" /> stay at your house today.&#8221;<n id="4" />

And he summoned ten of his slaves,<n id="1" /> gave them ten minas,<n id="2" /> and said to them, &#8216;Do business with these until I come back.&#8217;

But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king,<n id="1" /> bring them here and slaughter<n id="2" /> them<n id="3" /> in front of me!&#8217;&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> was teaching daily in the temple courts. The chief priests and the experts in the law<n id="2" /> and the prominent leaders among the people were seeking to assassinate<n id="3" /> him,

He will come and destroy<n id="1" /> those tenants and give the vineyard to others.&#8221;<n id="2" /> When the people<n id="3" /> heard this, they said, &#8220;May this never happen!&#8221;<n id="4" />

Thus<n id="1" /> they were unable in the presence of the people to trap<n id="2" /> him with his own words.<n id="3" /> And stunned<n id="4" /> by his answer, they fell silent.p>

But those who are regarded as worthy to share in<n id="1" /> that age and in the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.<n id="2" />

For they all offered their gifts out of their wealth.<n id="1" /> But she, out of her poverty, put in everything she had to live on.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

There will be great earthquakes, and famines<n id="1" /> and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights<n id="2" /> and great signs<n id="3" /> from heaven.

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow<n id="2" /> today until you have denied<n id="3" /> three times that you know me.&#8221;p>

Day after day when I was with you in the temple courts,<n id="1" /> you did not arrest me.<n id="2" /> But this is your hour,<n id="3" /> and that of the power<n id="4" /> of darkness!&#8221;p>

When<n id="1" /> he learned that he was from Herod&#8217;s jurisdiction,<n id="2" /> he sent him over to Herod,<n id="3" /> who also happened to be in Jerusalem<n id="4" /> at that time.
