And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.<n id="1" /> If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.

But<n id="1" /> he knew<n id="2" /> their thoughts,<n id="3" /> and said to the man who had the withered hand, &#8220;Get up and stand here.&#8221;<n id="4" /> So<n id="5" /> he rose and stood there.

So<n id="1" /> the people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus. They<n id="2" /> found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus&#8217; feet, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.

Then<n id="1" /> a man named Jairus, who was a ruler<n id="2" /> of the synagogue,<n id="3" /> came up. Falling<n id="4" /> at Jesus&#8217; feet, he pleaded<n id="5" /> with him to come to his house,

But when the crowds found out, they followed him. He<n id="1" /> welcomed them, spoke to them about the kingdom of God,<n id="2" /> and cured those who needed healing.<n id="3" />

For whoever is ashamed<n id="1" /> of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person<n id="2" /> when he comes in his glory and in the glory<n id="3" /> of the Father and of the holy angels.

&#8216;Even the dust of your town<n id="1" /> that clings to our feet we wipe off<n id="2" /> against you.<n id="3" /> Nevertheless know this: The kingdom of God has come.&#8217;<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> was praying in a certain place. When<n id="3" /> he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, &#8220;Lord, teach us to pray, just as John<n id="4" /> taught<n id="5" /> his disciples.&#8221;

But Jesus<n id="1" /> replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Woe to you experts in religious law as well!<n id="3" /> You load people<n id="4" /> down with burdens difficult to bear, yet you yourselves refuse to touch<n id="5" /> the burdens with even one of your fingers!

<t /><p class="bodytext">Meanwhile,<n id="1" /> when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus<n id="2" /> began to speak first to his disciples, &#8220;Be on your guard against<n id="3" /> the yeast of the Pharisees,<n id="4" /> which is hypocrisy.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> said to his<n id="3" /> disciples, &#8220;Therefore I tell you, do not worry<n id="4" /> about your<n id="5" /> life, what you will eat, or about your<n id="6" /> body, what you will wear.

Consider the ravens:<n id="1" /> They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn, yet God feeds<n id="2" /> them. How much more valuable are you than the birds!

But if<n id="1" /> that<n id="2" /> slave should say to himself,<n id="3" /> &#8216;My master is delayed<n id="4" /> in returning,&#8217; and he begins to beat<n id="5" /> the other<n id="6" /> slaves, both men and women,<n id="7" /> and to eat, drink, and get drunk,

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth<n id="1" /> when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,<n id="2" /> and all the prophets in the kingdom of God<n id="3" /> but you yourselves thrown out.<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> also said to the disciples, &#8220;There was a rich man who was informed of accusations<n id="2" /> that his manager<n id="3" /> was wasting<n id="4" /> his assets.

The<n id="1" /> master commended the dishonest<n id="2" /> manager because he acted shrewdly.<n id="3" /> For the people<n id="4" /> of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their contemporaries<n id="5" /> than the people<n id="6" /> of light.

The tax collector, however, stood<n id="1" /> far off and would not even look up<n id="2" /> to heaven, but beat his breast and said, &#8216;God, be merciful<n id="3" /> to me, sinner that I am!&#8217;<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> took the twelve aside and said to them, &#8220;Look, we are going up to Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.<n id="4" />

When<n id="1" /> he returned after receiving the kingdom, he summoned<n id="2" /> these slaves to whom he had given the money. He wanted<n id="3" /> to know how much they had earned<n id="4" /> by trading.

Look at my hands and my feet; it&#8217;s me!<n id="1" /> Touch me and see; a ghost<n id="2" /> does not have flesh and bones like you see I have.&#8221;
