Then<n id="1" /> he said to them, &#8220;Watch out and guard yourself from<n id="2" /> all types of greed,<n id="3" /> because one&#8217;s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> said to his<n id="3" /> disciples, &#8220;Therefore I tell you, do not worry<n id="4" /> about your<n id="5" /> life, what you will eat, or about your<n id="6" /> body, what you will wear.

So<n id="1" /> he said to the worker who tended the vineyard, &#8216;For<n id="2" /> three years<n id="3" /> now, I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and each time I inspect it<n id="4" /> I find none. Cut<n id="5" /> it down! Why<n id="6" /> should it continue to deplete<n id="7" /> the soil?&#8217;

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,<n id="1" /> you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you!<n id="2" /> How often I have longed<n id="3" /> to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but<n id="4" /> you would have none of it!<n id="5" />

So<n id="1" /> he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way from home<n id="2" /> his father saw him, and his heart went out to him;<n id="3" /> he ran and hugged<n id="4" /> his son<n id="5" /> and kissed him.

But the father said to his slaves,<n id="1" /> &#8216;Hurry! Bring the best robe,<n id="2" /> and put it on him! Put a ring on his finger<n id="3" /> and sandals<n id="4" /> on his feet!

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> also said to the disciples, &#8220;There was a rich man who was informed of accusations<n id="2" /> that his manager<n id="3" /> was wasting<n id="4" /> his assets.

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:<n id="1" /> &#8216;God, I thank<n id="2" /> you that I am not like other people:<n id="3" /> extortionists,<n id="4" /> unrighteous people,<n id="5" /> adulterers &#8211; or even like this tax collector.<n id="6" />

But Jesus called for the children,<n id="1" /> saying, &#8220;Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God<n id="2" /> belongs to such as these.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> took the twelve aside and said to them, &#8220;Look, we are going up to Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished.<n id="4" />

And when Jesus came to that place, he looked up<n id="1" /> and said to him, &#8220;Zacchaeus, come down quickly,<n id="2" /> because I must<n id="3" /> stay at your house today.&#8221;<n id="4" />

But Zacchaeus stopped and said to the Lord, &#8220;Look, Lord, half of my possessions I now give<n id="1" /> to the poor, and if<n id="2" /> I have cheated anyone of anything, I am paying back four times as much!&#8221;

As he approached the road leading down from<n id="1" /> the Mount of Olives,<n id="2" /> the whole crowd of his<n id="3" /> disciples began to rejoice<n id="4" /> and praise<n id="5" /> God with a loud voice for all the mighty works<n id="6" /> they had seen:<n id="7" />

and said to him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Tell us: By what authority<n id="2" /> are you doing these things?<n id="3" /> Or who it is who gave you this authority?&#8221;

Then<n id="1" /> the experts in the law<n id="2" /> and the chief priests wanted to arrest<n id="3" /> him that very hour, because they realized he had told this parable against them. But<n id="4" /> they were afraid of the people.p>

and said to them, &#8220;You brought me this man as one who was misleading<n id="1" /> the people. When I examined him before you, I<n id="2" /> did not find this man guilty<n id="3" /> of anything you accused him of doing.

But Peter got up and ran to the tomb.<n id="1" /> He bent down<n id="2" /> and saw only the strips of linen cloth;<n id="3" /> then he went home,<n id="4" /> wondering<n id="5" /> what had happened.<n id="6" />p>

Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who doesn&#8217;t know<n id="2" /> the things that have happened there<n id="3" /> in these days?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> this was<n id="2" /> John&#8217;s<n id="3" /> testimony<n id="4" /> when the Jewish leaders<n id="5" /> sent<n id="6" /> priests and Levites from Jerusalem<n id="7" /> to ask him, &#8220;Who are you?&#8221;<n id="8" />

Andrew brought Simon<n id="1" /> to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, &#8220;You are Simon, the son of John.<n id="2" /> You will be called Cephas&#8221; (which is translated Peter).<n id="3" />p>
