but the seventh day is the Sabbath<n id="1" /> of the <sc>Lordsc> your God. On that day you must not do any work, you, your son, your daughter, your male slave, your female slave, your ox, your donkey, any other animal, or the foreigner who lives with you,<n id="2" /> so that your male and female slaves, like yourself, may have rest.

Then you must come to the place the <sc>Lordsc> your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing<n id="1" /> everything I am commanding you &#8211; your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared,<n id="2" /> and all your choice votive offerings which you devote to him.<n id="3" />

However, the women, little children, cattle, and anything else in the city &#8211; all its plunder &#8211; you may take for yourselves as spoil. You may take from your enemies the plunder that the <sc>Lordsc> your God has given you.

Then the Levitical priests<n id="1" /> will approach (for the <sc>Lordsc> your God has chosen them to serve him and to pronounce blessings in his name,<n id="2" /> and to decide<n id="3" /> every judicial verdict<n id="4" />)

&#8220;Moses my servant is dead. Get ready!<n id="1" /> Cross the Jordan River!<n id="2" /> Lead these people into the land which I am ready to hand over to them.<n id="3" />

Anyone who leaves your house will be responsible for his own death &#8211; we are innocent in that case!<n id="1" /> But if anyone with you in the house is harmed, we will be responsible.<n id="2" />

There was a fortified<n id="1" /> tower<n id="2" /> in the center of the city, so all the men and women, as well as the city&#8217;s leaders, ran into it and locked the entrance. Then they went up to the roof of the tower.
