He told him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;See that you do not say anything to anyone,<n id="2" /> but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded<n id="3" /> for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.&#8221;<n id="4" />

Jesus<n id="1" /> said to them, &#8220;The wedding guests<n id="2" /> cannot fast while the bridegroom<n id="3" /> is with them, can they?<n id="4" /> As long as they have the bridegroom with them they do not fast.

When his daughter Herodias<n id="1" /> came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, &#8220;Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you.&#8221;

But he answered them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You<n id="2" /> give them something to eat.&#8221; And they said, &#8220;Should we go and buy bread for two hundred silver coins<n id="3" /> and give it to them to eat?&#8221;

He said to them, &#8220;Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written:p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8216;<b><i>This people honors me with their lips,i>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>but their hearti>b><n id="1" /> <i><b>is far from meb>.i>p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> called the crowd, along with his disciples, and said to them, &#8220;If anyone wants to become my follower,<n id="3" /> he must deny<n id="4" /> himself, take up his cross,<n id="5" /> and follow me.

But Jesus said, &#8220;Do not stop him, because no one who does a miracle in my name will be able soon afterward to say anything bad about me.

But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, &#8220;Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.<n id="1" />

But Jesus said to them, &#8220;You don&#8217;t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I experience?&#8221;<n id="1" />

They said to him, &#8220;We are able.&#8221;<n id="1" /> Then Jesus said to them, &#8220;You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I experience,

But he saw through their hypocrisy and said<n id="1" /> to them, &#8220;Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius<n id="2" /> and let me look at it.&#8221;

Now as for the dead being raised,<n id="1" /> have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush,<n id="2" /> how God said to him, &#8216;<b><i>I am the God of Abraham, thei>b><n id="3" /> <b><i>God of Isaac, and the God of Jacobi>b>&#8217;?<n id="4" />

When Jesus saw that he had answered thoughtfully, he said to him, &#8220;You are not far from the kingdom of God.&#8221; Then no one dared any longer to question him.p>

Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, &#8216;The Teacher says, &#8220;Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?&#8221;&#8217;

&#8220;I am,&#8221; said Jesus, &#8220;and you will see <i>the Son of Man sitting at the right handi><n id="1" /> of the Power<n id="2" /> and <i>coming with the clouds of heaveni>.&#8221;<n id="3" />

Immediately a rooster<n id="1" /> crowed a second time. Then<n id="2" /> Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: &#8220;Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.&#8221; And he broke down and wept.<n id="3" />p>

But the angel said to him, &#8220;Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard,<n id="1" /> and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son; you<n id="2" /> will name him John.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Zechariah<n id="1" /> said to the angel, &#8220;How can I be sure of this?<n id="2" /> For I am an old man, and my wife is old as well.&#8221;<n id="3" />

The<n id="1" /> angel answered him, &#8220;I am Gabriel, who stands<n id="2" /> in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring<n id="3" /> you this good news.

The angel replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow<n id="2" /> you. Therefore the child<n id="3" /> to be born<n id="4" /> will be holy;<n id="5" /> he will be called the Son of God.p>
