shouting, &#8220;Men of Israel,<n id="1" /> help! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people, our law,<n id="2" /> and this sanctuary!<n id="3" /> Furthermore<n id="4" /> he has brought Greeks into the inner courts of the temple<n id="5" /> and made this holy place ritually unclean!&#8221;<n id="6" />

&#8220;Brothers,<n id="1" /> the scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit foretold through<n id="2" /> David concerning Judas &#8211; who became the guide for those who arrested Jesus &#8211;

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Men of Israel,<n id="1" /> listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man clearly attested to you by God with powerful deeds,<n id="2" /> wonders, and miraculous signs<n id="3" /> that God performed among you through him, just as you yourselves know &#8211;

and they recognized him as the man who used to sit and ask for donations<n id="1" /> at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with astonishment and amazement<n id="2" /> at what had happened to him.p>

When Peter saw this, he declared to the people, &#8220;Men of Israel,<n id="1" /> why are you amazed at this? Why<n id="2" /> do you stare at us as if we had made this man<n id="3" /> walk by our own power or piety?

And on the basis of faith in Jesus&#8217;<n id="1" /> name,<n id="2" /> his very name has made this man &#8211; whom you see and know &#8211; strong. The<n id="3" /> faith that is through Jesus<n id="4" /> has given him this complete health in the presence<n id="5" /> of you all.

Moses said, &#8216;<i><b>The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothersb>. <b>You must obeyb>i><n id="1" /> <b><i>him in everything he tells youi>b>.<n id="2" />

You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors,<n id="1" /> saying to Abraham, &#8216;<b><i>And in your descendantsi>b><n id="2" /> <b><i>all the nationsi>b><n id="3" /> <b><i>of the earth will be blessedi>b>.&#8217;<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">When they saw the boldness<n id="1" /> of Peter and John, and discovered<n id="2" /> that they were uneducated<n id="3" /> and ordinary<n id="4" /> men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

When they heard this, they raised their voices to God with one mind<n id="1" /> and said, &#8220;Master of all,<n id="2" /> you who made the heaven, the earth,<n id="3" /> the sea, and everything that is in them,

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;For indeed both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together in this city against<n id="1" /> your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,<n id="2" />

But Peter said, &#8220;Ananias, why has Satan filled<n id="1" /> your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back for yourself part of the proceeds from the sale of<n id="2" /> the land?

At once<n id="1" /> she collapsed at his feet and died. So when the young men came in, they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

After him Judas the Galilean arose in the days of the census,<n id="1" /> and incited people to follow him in revolt.<n id="2" /> He too was killed, and all who followed him were scattered.

The word of God continued to spread,<n id="1" /> the number of disciples in Jerusalem<n id="2" /> increased greatly, and a large group<n id="3" /> of priests became obedient to the faith.p>

For we have heard him saying that Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and change the customs<n id="1" /> that Moses handed down to us.&#8221;

This is the man who was in the congregation<n id="1" /> in the wilderness<n id="2" /> with the angel who spoke to him at Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors,<n id="3" /> and he<n id="4" /> received living oracles<n id="5" /> to give to you.<n id="6" />

Our ancestors<n id="1" /> had the tabernacle<n id="2" /> of testimony in the wilderness,<n id="3" /> just as God<n id="4" /> who spoke to Moses ordered him<n id="5" /> to make it according to the design he had seen.

Which of the prophets did your ancestors<n id="1" /> not persecute?<n id="2" /> They<n id="3" /> killed those who foretold long ago the coming of the Righteous One,<n id="4" /> whose betrayers and murderers you have now become!<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then an angel of the Lord<n id="1" /> said to Philip,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Get up and go south<n id="3" /> on the road that goes down from Jerusalem<n id="4" /> to Gaza.&#8221; (This is a desert<n id="5" /> road.)<n id="6" />
