<p class="bodytext">Then the watchman saw another man running. The watchman called out to the gatekeeper, &#8220;There is another man running by himself.&#8221; The king said, &#8220;This one also is bringing good news.&#8221;

Yet another battle occurred in Gath. On that occasion there was a large man<n id="1" /> who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all! He too was a descendant of Rapha.

The king&#8217;s servants have even come to congratulate<n id="1" /> our master<n id="2" /> King David, saying, &#8216;May your God<n id="3" /> make Solomon more famous than you and make him an even greater king than you!&#8217;<n id="4" /> Then the king leaned<n id="5" /> on the bed

Inside the stand was a round opening that was a foot-and-a-half deep; it had a support that was two and one-quarter feet long.<n id="1" /> On the edge of the opening were carvings in square frames.<n id="2" />

The old prophet then said,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I too am a prophet like you. An angel told me with the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s authority,<n id="2" /> &#8216;Bring him back with you to your house so he can eat and drink.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" /> But he was lying to him.<n id="4" />

The prophet Jehu son of Hanani received from the <sc>Lordsc> the message predicting the downfall of Baasha and his family because of all the evil Baasha had done in the sight of the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" /> His actions angered the <sc>Lordsc> (including the way he had destroyed Jeroboam&#8217;s dynasty), so that his family ended up like Jeroboam&#8217;s.<n id="2" />p>

While deployed there, the army received this report:<n id="1" /> &#8220;Zimri has conspired against the king and assassinated him.&#8221;<n id="2" /> So all Israel made Omri, the commander of the army, king over Israel that very day in the camp.

He replied, &#8216;I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.&#8217; The <sc>Lordsc><n id="1" /> said, &#8216;Deceive and overpower him.<n id="2" /> Go out and do as you have proposed.&#8217;

Some members of the prophetic guild<n id="1" /> in Bethel came out to Elisha and said, &#8220;Do you know that today the <sc>Lordsc> is going to take your master from you?&#8221;<n id="2" /> He answered, &#8220;Yes, I know. Be quiet.&#8221;p>

Some members of the prophetic guild in Jericho approached Elisha and said, &#8220;Do you know that today the <sc>Lordsc> is going to take your master from you?&#8221; He answered, &#8220;Yes, I know. Be quiet.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Elisha advised the woman whose son he had brought back to life, &#8220;You and your family should go and live somewhere else for a while,<n id="1" /> for the <sc>Lordsc> has decreed that a famine will overtake the land for seven years.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">When King Ahaziah of Judah saw what happened, he took off<n id="1" /> up the road to Beth Haggan. Jehu chased him and ordered, &#8220;Shoot him too.&#8221; They shot him while he was driving his chariot up the ascent of Gur near Ibleam.<n id="2" /> He fled to Megiddo<n id="3" /> and died there.

These nations are worshiping the <sc>Lordsc> and at the same time serving their idols; their sons and grandsons do just as their fathers have done, to this very day.p>

&#8220;King Manasseh of Judah has committed horrible sins.<n id="1" /> He has sinned more than the Amorites before him and has encouraged Judah to sin by worshiping his disgusting idols.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Furthermore Manasseh killed so many innocent people, he stained Jerusalem with their blood from end to end,<n id="1" /> in addition to encouraging Judah to sin by doing evil in the sight of the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="2" />p>

&#8216;You displayed a sensitive spirit<n id="1" /> and humbled yourself before the <sc>Lordsc> when you heard how I intended to make this place and its residents into an appalling example of an accursed people.<n id="2" /> You tore your clothes and wept before me, and I have heard you,&#8217; says the <sc>Lordsc>.

<p class="bodytext">Josiah also removed all the shrines on the high places in the cities of Samaria. The kings of Israel had made them and angered the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" /> He did to them what he had done to the high place in Bethel.<n id="2" />

The <sc>Lordsc> announced, &#8220;I will also spurn Judah,<n id="1" /> just as I spurned Israel. I will reject this city that I chose &#8211; both Jerusalem and the temple, about which I said, &#8220;I will live there.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">All these men were warriors who were ready to march.<n id="1" /> They came to Hebron to make David king over all Israel by acclamation;<n id="2" /> all the rest of the Israelites also were in agreement that David should become king.<n id="3" />

King David dedicated these things to the <sc>Lordsc>,<n id="1" /> along with the silver and gold which he had carried off from all the nations, including<n id="2" /> Edom,<n id="3" /> Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amalek.p>
