But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled ¹  your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back for yourself part of the proceeds from the sale of ²  the land?

to open their eyes so that they turn ¹  from darkness to light and from the power ²  of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share ³  among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

Do not deprive each other, except by mutual agreement for a specified time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. ¹  Then resume your relationship, ²  so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

But to the rest of you in Thyatira, all who do not hold to this teaching ¹  (who have not learned the so-called “deep secrets ²  of Satan”), to you I say: I do not put any additional burden on you.

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds firmly ¹  to his integrity, ²  so that ³  you stirred me up to destroy him ⁴  without reason.” ⁵ 

Listen! ¹  I am going to make those people from the synagogue ²  of Satan – who say they are Jews yet ³  are not, but are lying – Look, I will make ⁴  them come and bow down ⁵  at your feet and acknowledge ⁶  that I have loved you.

An adversary ¹  opposed ²  Israel, inciting David to count how many warriors Israel had. ³ 

Jesus ¹  answered him, ²  “It is written, ‘You are to worship ³  the Lord ⁴  your God and serve only him.’” ⁵ 

¹ Appoint an evil man to testify against him! ²  May an accuser stand ³  at his right side!

He breaks through against me, time and time again; ¹  he rushes ²  against me like a warrior.

and concerning judgment, ¹  because ²  the ruler of this world ³  has been condemned. ⁴ 

But even ¹  when Michael the archangel ²  was arguing with the devil and debating with him ³  concerning Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment, but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!”

God abandons me to evil ¹  men, ²  and throws ³  me into the hands of wicked men.

his archers ¹  surround me. Without pity ²  he pierces ³  my kidneys and pours out my gall ⁴  on the ground.

Death and Destruction ¹  are before the Lord – how much more ²  the hearts of humans! ³ 

and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.

But some of them said, “By the power of Beelzebul, ¹  the ruler ²  of demons, he casts out demons.”

When a strong man, ¹  fully armed, guards his own palace, ²  his possessions are safe. ³ 

The evening meal ¹  was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart ²  of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray ³  Jesus. ⁴ 

and in all of this, ¹  by taking up the shield ²  of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
