And I will do whatever you ask in my name, ¹  so that the Father may be glorified ²  in the Son.

If you remain ¹  in me and my words remain ²  in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. ³ 

At that time ¹  you will ask in my name, and I do not say ²  that I will ask the Father on your behalf.

Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled ¹  forty years.

When I was in Jerusalem, ¹  the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed ²  me about him, ³  asking for a sentence of condemnation ⁴  against him.

Now to him who by the power that is working within us ¹  is able to do far beyond ²  all that we ask or think,

But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him.

and ¹  whatever we ask we receive from him, because ²  we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing to him.

And this is the confidence that we have before him: that ¹  whenever ²  we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

If you then, although you are evil, ¹  know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts ²  to those who ask him!

Again, I tell you the truth, ¹  if two of you on earth agree about whatever you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. ² 

Jesus ¹  answered, “You don’t know what you are asking! ²  Are you able to drink the cup I am about to drink?” ³  They said to him, “We are able.” ⁴ 

When his daughter Herodias ¹  came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you.”

But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I experience?” ¹ 

Joseph of Arimathea, a highly regarded member of the council, ¹  who was himself looking forward to ²  the kingdom of God, ³  went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ⁴ 

If you then, although you are ¹  evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit ²  to those who ask him!”

But the one who did not know his master’s will ¹  and did things worthy of punishment ²  will receive a light beating. ³  From everyone who has been given much, much will be required, ⁴  and from the one who has been entrusted with much, ⁵  even more will be asked. ⁶ 

So the Samaritan woman said to him, “How can you – a Jew ¹  – ask me, a Samaritan woman, for water ²  to drink?” (For Jews use nothing in common ³  with Samaritans.) ⁴ 

At that time ¹  you will ask me nothing. I tell you the solemn truth, ²  whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. ³ 

And a man lame ¹  from birth ²  was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called “the Beautiful Gate” every day ³  so he could beg for money ⁴  from those going into the temple courts. ⁵
