The experts in the law<n id="1" /> who came down from Jerusalem<n id="2" /> said, &#8220;He is possessed by Beelzebul,&#8221;<n id="3" /> and, &#8220;By the ruler<n id="4" /> of demons he casts out demons.&#8221;

The woman was a Greek, of Syrophoenician origin. She<n id="1" /> asked him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

<p class="bodytext">Then,<n id="1" /> after he went into the house, his disciples asked him privately, &#8220;Why couldn&#8217;t we cast it out?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">John said to him, &#8220;Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">John answered,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop<n id="2" /> him because he is not a disciple<n id="3" /> along with us.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> he was casting out a demon that was mute.<n id="2" /> When<n id="3" /> the demon had gone out, the man who had been mute began to speak,<n id="4" /> and the crowds were amazed.

So<n id="1" /> if<n id="2" /> Satan too is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? I ask you this because<n id="3" /> you claim that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

But<n id="1" /> he said to them, &#8220;Go<n id="2" /> and tell that fox,<n id="3" /> &#8216;Look, I am casting out demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day<n id="4" /> I will complete my work.<n id="5" />

Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never send away.<n id="1" />

They replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You were born completely in sinfulness,<n id="2" /> and yet you presume to teach us?&#8221;<n id="3" /> So they threw him out.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, so he found the man<n id="1" /> and said to him, &#8220;Do you believe in the Son of Man?&#8221;<n id="2" />

When he has brought all his own sheep<n id="1" /> out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize<n id="2" /> his voice.

When<n id="1" /> they had driven him out of the city, they began to stone him,<n id="2" /> and the witnesses laid their cloaks<n id="3" /> at the feet of a young man named Saul.

Or how can you say<n id="1" /> to your brother, &#8216;Let me remove the speck from your eye,&#8217; while there is a beam in your own?

On that day, many will say to me, &#8216;Lord, Lord, didn&#8217;t we prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons and do<n id="1" /> many powerful deeds?&#8217;

Then he said to them, &#8220;Therefore every expert in the law<n id="1" /> who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his treasure what is new and old.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> Jesus entered the temple area<n id="2" /> and drove out all those who were selling and buying in the temple courts,<n id="3" /> and turned over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves.

Then the king said to his attendants, &#8216;Tie him up hand and foot and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth!&#8217;

So<n id="1" /> he healed many who were sick with various diseases and drove out many demons.<n id="2" /> But<n id="3" /> he would not permit the demons to speak,<n id="4" /> because they knew him.<n id="5" />p>

And they began making fun of him.<n id="1" /> But he put them all outside<n id="2" /> and he took the child&#8217;s father and mother and his own companions<n id="3" /> and went into the room where the child was.<n id="4" />
