They<n id="1" /> came up to him again and again<n id="2" /> and said, &#8220;Hail, king of the Jews!&#8221;<n id="3" /> And they struck him repeatedly<n id="4" /> in the face.p>

But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she bent down and looked into the tomb.

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, &#8216;I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.&#8217;&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">In the beginning<n id="1" /> was the Word, and the Word was with God,<n id="2" /> and the Word was fully God.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">On the next day John<n id="1" /> saw Jesus coming toward him and said, &#8220;Look, the Lamb of God<n id="2" /> who takes away the sin of the world!

<p class="bodytext">Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Look, a true Israelite <i>in whom there is no deceit!i>&#8221;<n id="2" />

For everyone who does evil deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed.

But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.<n id="1" />p>

The woman said to him, &#8220;Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw<n id="1" /> water.&#8221;<n id="2" />

He was a lamp that was burning and shining,<n id="1" /> and you wanted to rejoice greatly for a short time<n id="2" /> in his light.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope.<n id="1" />

got into a boat, and started to cross the lake<n id="1" /> to Capernaum.<n id="2" /> (It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.)<n id="3" />

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him,<n id="1" /> and I will raise him up at the last day.

It is written in the prophets, &#8216;<b><i>And they will all be taught by Godi>b>.&#8217;<n id="1" /> Everyone who hears and learns from the Father<n id="2" /> comes to me.

<p class="bodytext">Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus<n id="1" /> began to argue with one another,<n id="2" /> &#8220;How can this man<n id="3" /> give us his flesh to eat?&#8221;

So Jesus added,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Because of this I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has allowed him to come.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then the officers<n id="1" /> returned<n id="2" /> to the chief priests and Pharisees,<n id="3" /> who said to them, &#8220;Why didn&#8217;t you bring him back with you?&#8221;<n id="4" />

Early in the morning he came to the temple courts again. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach<n id="1" /> them.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Jesus said to those Judeans<n id="1" /> who had believed him, &#8220;If you continue to follow my teaching,<n id="2" /> you are really<n id="3" /> my disciples

&#8220;We are descendants<n id="1" /> of Abraham,&#8221; they replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;and have never been anyone&#8217;s slaves! How can you say,<n id="3" /> &#8216;You will become free&#8217;?&#8221;
