At that very moment,<n id="1" /> three men sent to me from Caesarea<n id="2" /> approached<n id="3" /> the house where we were staying.<n id="4" />

When Herod<n id="1" /> had searched<n id="2" /> for him and did not find him, he questioned<n id="3" /> the guards and commanded that they be led away to execution.<n id="4" /> Then<n id="5" /> Herod<n id="6" /> went down from Judea to Caesarea<n id="7" /> and stayed there.p>

But the magician Elymas<n id="1" /> (for that is the way his name is translated)<n id="2" /> opposed them, trying to turn the proconsul<n id="3" /> away from the faith.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Paul and his companions put out to sea<n id="1" /> from Paphos<n id="2" /> and came to Perga<n id="3" /> in Pamphylia,<n id="4" /> but John<n id="5" /> left them and returned to Jerusalem.<n id="6" />

Moving on from<n id="1" /> Perga,<n id="2" /> they arrived at Pisidian Antioch,<n id="3" /> and on the Sabbath day they went into<n id="4" /> the synagogue<n id="5" /> and sat down.

and<n id="1" /> for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied<n id="2" /> him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These<n id="3" /> are now his witnesses to the people.

and by this one<n id="1" /> everyone who believes is justified<n id="2" /> from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify<n id="3" /> you.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">But Jews came from Antioch<n id="1" /> and Iconium,<n id="2" /> and after winning<n id="3" /> the crowds over, they stoned<n id="4" /> Paul and dragged him out of the city, presuming him to be dead.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now some men came down from Judea<n id="1" /> and began to teach the brothers, &#8220;Unless you are circumcised<n id="2" /> according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.&#8221;

When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were received<n id="1" /> by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they reported<n id="2" /> all the things God had done with them.<n id="3" />

But some from the religious party of the Pharisees<n id="1" /> who had believed stood up and said, &#8220;It is necessary<n id="2" /> to circumcise the Gentiles<n id="3" /> and to order them to observe<n id="4" /> the law of Moses.&#8221;p>

but Paul insisted<n id="1" /> that they should not take along this one who had left them in Pamphylia<n id="2" /> and had not accompanied them in the work.

At<n id="1" /> that hour of the night he took them<n id="2" /> and washed their wounds;<n id="3" /> then<n id="4" /> he and all his family<n id="5" /> were baptized right away.<n id="6" />

When they came out of the prison, they entered Lydia&#8217;s house, and when they saw the brothers, they encouraged them and then<n id="1" /> departed.p>

Paul went to the Jews in the synagogue,<n id="1" /> as he customarily did, and on three Sabbath days he addressed<n id="2" /> them from the scriptures,

so that they would search for God and perhaps grope around<n id="1" /> for him and find him,<n id="2" /> though he is<n id="3" /> not far from each one of us.

We<n id="1" /> sailed away from Philippi<n id="2" /> after the days of Unleavened Bread,<n id="3" /> and within five days<n id="4" /> we came to the others<n id="5" /> in Troas,<n id="6" /> where we stayed for seven days.

We continued the voyage from Tyre<n id="1" /> and arrived at Ptolemais,<n id="2" /> and when we had greeted the brothers, we stayed with them for one day.

Some of the disciples from Caesarea<n id="1" /> came along with us too, and brought us to the house<n id="2" /> of Mnason of Cyprus, a disciple from the earliest times,<n id="3" /> with whom we were to stay.

Since I could not see because of<n id="1" /> the brilliance<n id="2" /> of that light, I came to Damascus led by the hand of<n id="3" /> those who were with me.
