<p class="bodytext">Jesus said to them, &#8220;Have you never read in the scriptures:p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8216;<i><b>The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstoneb>.i><n id="1" />p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyesi>b>&#8217;?<n id="2" />p>

The Son of Man will go as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if he had never been born.&#8221;

I<n id="1" /> tell you, from now on I will not drink of this fruit<n id="2" /> of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father&#8217;s kingdom.&#8221;

This all happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled:

<t /><p class="bodytext">In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness<n id="1" /> of Judea proclaiming,

Let your word be &#8216;Yes, yes&#8217; or &#8216;No, no.&#8217; More than this is from the evil one.<n id="1" />p>

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these!

But above all pursue his kingdom<n id="1" /> and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

<p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> Jesus finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed by his teaching,

When<n id="1" /> the crowd saw this, they were afraid<n id="2" /> and honored God who had given such authority to men.<n id="3" />p>

I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah<n id="2" /> on the day of judgment than for that town!p>

And you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

All the crowds were amazed and said, &#8220;Could this one be the Son of David?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">On that day after Jesus went out of the house, he sat by the lake.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; he did not speak to them without a parable.

<p class="otpoetry">&#8216;<b><i>This people honors me with their lips,i>b>p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>but their hearti>b><n id="1" /> <b><i>is far from me,i>b>p>

But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person.

These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

And whoever welcomes<n id="1" /> a child like this in my name welcomes me.p>

In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that one of these little ones be lost.p>
