For this reason, she will experience her plagues<n id="1" /> in a single day: disease,<n id="2" /> mourning,<n id="3" /> and famine, and she will be burned down<n id="4" /> with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is powerful!&#8221;p>

<p class="poetry">because in a single hour such great wealth has been destroyed!&#8221;<n id="1" />p> <p class="bodytext">And every ship&#8217;s captain,<n id="2" /> and all who sail along the coast<n id="3" /> &#8211; seamen, and all who<n id="4" /> make their living from the sea, stood a long way off

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the angel<n id="2" /> said to me, &#8220;Write the following: Blessed are those who are invited to the banquet at the wedding celebration of the Lamb!&#8221; He also said to me, &#8220;These are the true words of God.&#8221;

The angel<n id="1" /> then<n id="2" /> threw him into the abyss and locked<n id="3" /> and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)p>

<p class="bodytext">And the one seated on the throne said: &#8220;Look! I am making all things new!&#8221; Then<n id="1" /> he said to me, &#8220;Write it down,<n id="2" /> because these words are reliable<n id="3" /> and true.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the angel<n id="2" /> said to me, &#8220;These words are reliable<n id="3" /> and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants<n id="4" /> what must happen soon.&#8221;p>

But<n id="1" /> he said to me, &#8220;Do not do this!<n id="2" /> I am a fellow servant<n id="3" /> with you and with your brothers the prophets, and with those who obey<n id="4" /> the words of this book. Worship God!&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!&#8221;<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;To<n id="1" /> the angel of the church in Sardis write the following:<n id="2" />p> <p class="bodytext">&#8220;This is the solemn pronouncement of<n id="3" /> the one who holds<n id="4" /> the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: &#8216;I know your deeds, that you have a reputation<n id="5" /> that you are alive, but<n id="6" /> in reality<n id="7" /> you are dead.

<p class="bodytext">After these things I looked, and here was<n id="1" /> an enormous crowd that no one could count, made up of persons from every nation, tribe,<n id="2" /> people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb dressed in long white robes, and with palm branches in their hands.

So<n id="1" /> I said to him, &#8220;My lord, you know the answer.&#8221;<n id="2" /> Then<n id="3" /> he said to me, &#8220;These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They<n id="4" /> have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb!

The rest of humanity, who had not been killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so that they did not stop worshiping demons and idols made<n id="1" /> of gold, silver,<n id="2" /> bronze, stone, and wood &#8211; idols that cannot see or hear or walk about.

These two have the power<n id="1" /> to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time<n id="2" /> they are prophesying. They<n id="3" /> have power<n id="4" /> to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.

Just then<n id="1" /> a major earthquake took place and a tenth of the city collapsed; seven thousand people<n id="2" /> were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.p>

Blessed and holy is the one who takes part<n id="1" /> in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them,<n id="2" /> but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.p>
