Jesus answered him, &#8220;It is written, &#8216;<b><i>Mani>b><n id="1" /> <b><i>does not live by bread alonei>b>.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

Jesus<n id="1" /> answered him,<n id="2" /> &#8220;It is said, &#8216;<b><i>You are not to put the Lord your God to the testi>b>.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />

Then<n id="1" /> he began to tell them, &#8220;Today<n id="2" /> this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read.&#8221;<n id="3" />

And he added,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="2" /> no prophet is acceptable<n id="3" /> in his hometown.

The<n id="1" /> whole crowd was trying to touch him, because power<n id="2" /> was coming out from him and healing them all.p>

I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom<n id="1" /> than for that town!<n id="2" />p>

Woe to you Pharisees! You love the best seats<n id="1" /> in the synagogues<n id="2" /> and elaborate greetings<n id="3" /> in the marketplaces!

Woe to you!<n id="1" /> You are like unmarked graves, and people<n id="2" /> walk over them without realizing it!&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

Woe to you! You build<n id="1" /> the tombs of the prophets whom your ancestors<n id="2" /> killed.

so<n id="1" /> he thought to himself,<n id="2" /> &#8216;What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?&#8217;<n id="3" />

For all the nations of the world pursue<n id="1" /> these things, and your Father knows that you need them.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is well pleased<n id="1" /> to give you the kingdom.

You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

Do you think I have come to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!<n id="1" />

&#8220;Exert every effort<n id="1" /> to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

For I tell you, not one of those individuals<n id="1" /> who were invited<n id="2" /> will taste my banquet!&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

But<n id="1" /> the Pharisees<n id="2" /> and the experts in the law<n id="3" /> were complaining,<n id="4" /> &#8220;This man welcomes<n id="5" /> sinners and eats with them.&#8221;p>

Then one of them, when he saw he was healed, turned back, praising<n id="1" /> God with a loud voice.
