Simon<n id="1" /> answered,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Master,<n id="3" /> we worked hard all night and caught nothing! But at your word<n id="4" /> I will lower<n id="5" /> the nets.&#8221;

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Woe to you<n id="1" /> when all people<n id="2" /> speak well of you, for their ancestors<n id="3" /> did the same things to the false prophets.p>

So<n id="1" /> the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd of pigs<n id="2" /> rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned.

The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go<n id="1" /> with him, but Jesus<n id="2" /> sent him away, saying,

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Herod<n id="1" /> the tetrarch<n id="2" /> heard about everything that was happening, and he was thoroughly perplexed,<n id="3" /> because some people were saying that John<n id="4" /> had been raised from the dead,

&#8220;Take these words to heart,<n id="1" /> for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.&#8221;<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> the seventy-two<n id="2" /> returned with joy, saying, &#8220;Lord, even the demons submit to<n id="3" /> us in your name!&#8221;<n id="4" />

But Jesus,<n id="1" /> realizing their thoughts, said to them,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed,<n id="3" /> and a divided household falls.<n id="4" />

So<n id="1" /> if<n id="2" /> Satan too is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? I ask you this because<n id="3" /> you claim that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

Now if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons<n id="1" /> cast them<n id="2" /> out? Therefore they will be your judges.

But<n id="1" /> when a stronger man<n id="2" /> attacks<n id="3" /> and conquers him, he takes away the first man&#8217;s<n id="4" /> armor on which the man relied<n id="5" /> and divides up<n id="6" /> his plunder.<n id="7" />

Then<n id="1" /> he said, &#8216;I<n id="2" /> will do this: I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

The man<n id="1" /> replied, &#8216;A hundred measures<n id="2" /> of olive oil.&#8217; The manager<n id="3" /> said to him, &#8216;Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write fifty.&#8217;<n id="4" />

who longed to eat<n id="1" /> what fell from the rich man&#8217;s table. In addition, the dogs<n id="2" /> came and licked<n id="3" /> his sores.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> said to his disciples, &#8220;Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe<n id="2" /> to the one through whom they come!

So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say, &#8216;We are slaves undeserving of special praise;<n id="1" /> we have only done what was our duty.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

When Jesus noticed this,<n id="1" /> he said, &#8220;How hard<n id="2" /> it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!<n id="3" />

But<n id="1" /> the twelve<n id="2" /> understood none of these things. This<n id="3" /> saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp<n id="4" /> what Jesus meant.<n id="5" />p>

Then<n id="1" /> they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks<n id="2" /> on the colt,<n id="3" /> and had Jesus get on<n id="4" /> it.
