For you put up with ¹  it if someone makes slaves of you, if someone exploits you, if someone takes advantage of you, if someone behaves arrogantly ²  toward you, if someone strikes you in the face.

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! ¹ 

who made us adequate ¹  to be servants of a new covenant ²  not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

But since we have the same spirit of faith as that shown in ¹  what has been written, “I believed; therefore I spoke,” ²  we also believe, therefore we also speak.

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the one who was proclaimed among you by us – by me and Silvanus ¹  and Timothy – was not “Yes” and “No,” but it has always been “Yes” in him.

Blessed is ¹  the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

But as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.”

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, ¹  there is freedom.

And what agreement does Christ have with Beliar? ¹  Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever?

But thanks be to God who put in the heart of Titus the same devotion ¹  I have for you,

And we are sending ¹  along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in spreading the gospel. ² 

And in their prayers on your behalf they long for you because of the extraordinary grace God has shown to you. ¹ 

And I know that this man (whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows)

For if someone comes and proclaims ¹  another Jesus different from the one we proclaimed, ²  or if you receive a different spirit than the one you received, ³  or a different gospel than the one you accepted, ⁴  you put up with it well enough! ⁵ 

For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.

But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession ¹  in Christ ²  and who makes known ³  through us the fragrance that consists of the knowledge of him in every place.

who comforts us in all our troubles ¹  so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble ²  with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

as you also join in helping us by prayer, so that many people may give thanks to God ¹  on our behalf for the gracious gift given to us through the help of many.

For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness,” ¹  is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge ²  of God in the face of Christ. ³ 

So then from now on we acknowledge ¹  no one from an outward human point of view. ²  Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, ³  now we do not know him in that way any longer.
