So Balak did just as Balaam had said. Balak and Balaam then offered on each<n id="1" /> altar a bull and a ram.

Then the <sc>Lordsc> put a message<n id="1" /> in Balaam&#8217;s mouth and said, &#8220;Return to Balak, and speak what I tell you.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

Balaam replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Must I not be careful<n id="2" /> to speak what the <sc>Lordsc> has put in my mouth?&#8221;<n id="3" />

So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab, by the Jordan River<n id="1" /> across from Jericho.<n id="2" /> They said,

He laid his hands on him and commissioned him, just as the <sc>Lordsc> commanded,<n id="1" /> by the authority<n id="2" /> of Moses.p>

but your servants will cross over, every man armed for war, to do battle in the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s presence, just as my lord says.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho. He said:

But the angel of the <sc>Lordsc> said to Balaam, &#8220;Go with the men, but you may only speak<n id="1" /> the word that I will speak to you.&#8221;<n id="2" /> So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.p>

Balaam said to Balak, &#8220;Look, I have come to you. Now, am I able<n id="1" /> to speak<n id="2" /> just anything? I must speak<n id="3" /> only the word that God puts in my mouth.&#8221;
