<p class="poetry">Instead of shame, you will get a double portion;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">instead of humiliation, they will rejoice over the land they receive.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Yes,<n id="3" /> they will possess a double portion in their landp> <p class="poetry">and experience lasting joy.p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc>, who is the inheritance<n id="1" /> of Jacob&#8217;s descendants,<n id="2" /> is not like them.p> <p class="poetry">He is the one who created everything.p> <p class="poetry">And the people of Israel are those he claims as his own.<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">He is known as the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc>, who is the portion of the descendants of Jacob, is not like them.p> <p class="poetry">For he is the one who created everything,p> <p class="poetry">including the people of Israel whom he claims as his own.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">He is known as the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">The sovereign <sc>Lordsc> showed me this: I saw<n id="1" /> the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> summoning a shower of fire.<n id="2" /> It consumed the great deep and devoured the fields.p>

Then the Levites (because they have no allotment or inheritance with you), the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows of your villages may come and eat their fill so that the <sc>Lordsc> your God may bless you in all the work you do.p>

The descendants of Joseph were considered as two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. The Levites were allotted no territory, though they were assigned cities in which to live, along with the grazing areas for their cattle and possessions.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Caleb son of Jephunneh was assigned Kiriath Arba (that is Hebron) within the tribe of Judah, according to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s instructions to Joshua. (Arba was the father of Anak.)<n id="1" />

But the Levites will not have an allotted portion among you, for their inheritance is to serve the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" /> Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have already received their allotted land<n id="2" /> east of the Jordan which Moses the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s servant assigned them.&#8221;p>

The <sc>Lordsc> made the Jordan a boundary between us and you Reubenites and Gadites. You have no right to worship the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;<n id="1" /> In this way your descendants might cause our descendants to stop obeying<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc>.

but as a reminder to us and you,<n id="1" /> and to our descendants who follow us, that we will honor the <sc>Lordsc> in his very presence<n id="2" /> with burnt offerings, sacrifices, and tokens of peace.<n id="3" /> Then in the future your descendants will not be able to say to our descendants, &#8216;You have no right to worship the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8217;<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now a wicked man<n id="1" /> named Sheba son of Bicri, a Benjaminite,<n id="2" /> happened to be there. He blew the trumpet<n id="3" /> and said,p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;We have no share in David;p> <p class="poetry">we have no inheritance in this son of Jesse!p> <p class="poetry">Every man go home,<n id="4" /> O Israel!&#8221;p>

When they went back and told him, he said, &#8220;The <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s word through his servant, Elijah the Tishbite, has come to pass. He warned,<n id="1" /> &#8216;In the plot of land at Jezreel, dogs will devour Jezebel&#8217;s flesh.

I responded to them by saying, &#8220;The God of heaven will prosper us. We his servants will start the rebuilding.<n id="1" /> But you have no just or ancient right in Jerusalem.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Enjoy<n id="1" /> life with your beloved wife<n id="2" /> during all the days of your fleeting<n id="3" /> lifep> <p class="poetry">that God<n id="4" /> has given you on earth<n id="5" /> during all your fleeting days;<n id="6" />p> <p class="poetry">for that is your reward in life and in your burdensome work<n id="7" /> on earth.<n id="8" />p>
