<p class="poetry">Who among you fears the <sc>Lordsc>?p> <p class="poetry">Who obeys<n id="1" /> his servant?p> <p class="poetry">Whoever walks in deep darkness,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">without light,p> <p class="poetry">should trust in the name of the <sc>Lordsc>p> <p class="poetry">and rely on his God.p>

He said to them, &#8220;I am a Hebrew! And I worship<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc>,<n id="2" /> the God of heaven,<n id="3" /> who made the sea and the dry land.&#8221;

But for you who respect my name, the sun of vindication<n id="1" /> will rise with healing wings,<n id="2" /> and you will skip about<n id="3" /> like calves released from the stall.

the great judgments<n id="1" /> you saw, the signs and wonders, the strength and power<n id="2" /> by which he<n id="3" /> brought you out &#8211; thus the <sc>Lordsc> your God will do to all the people you fear.

In addition, the officers are to say to the troops, &#8220;Who among you is afraid and fainthearted? He may go home so that he will not make his fellow soldier&#8217;s<n id="1" /> heart as fearful<n id="2" /> as his own.&#8221;

So the <sc>Lordsc> said to Satan, &#8220;Have you considered<n id="1" /> my servant Job? There<n id="2" /> is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away<n id="3" /> from evil.&#8221;p>

Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to Satan, &#8220;Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds firmly<n id="1" /> to his integrity,<n id="2" /> so that<n id="3" /> you stirred me up to destroy him<n id="4" /> without reason.&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

<p class="poetry">The sovereign master<n id="1" /> says,p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;These people say they are loyal to me;<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">they say wonderful things about me,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">but they are not really loyal to me.<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">Their worship consists ofp> <p class="poetry">nothing but man-made ritual.<n id="5" />p>

<p class="bodytext">King Hezekiah and all the people of Judah did not put him to death, did they? Did not Hezekiah show reverence for the <sc>Lordsc> and seek the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s favor?<n id="1" /> Did not<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc> forgo destroying them<n id="3" /> as he threatened he would? But we are on the verge of bringing great disaster on ourselves.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon whom you now fear.<n id="1" /> Do not be afraid of him because I will be with you to save you and to rescue you from his power. I, the <sc>Lordsc>, affirm it!<n id="2" />

But he<n id="1" /> responded to Daniel, &#8220;I fear my master the king. He is the one who has decided<n id="2" /> your food and drink. What would happen if he saw that you looked malnourished in comparison to the other young men your age?<n id="3" /> If that happened,<n id="4" /> you would endanger my life<n id="5" /> with the king!&#8221;

Hearing this,<n id="1" /> the men became even more afraid<n id="2" /> and said to him, &#8220;What have you done?&#8221; (The men said this because they knew that he was trying to escape<n id="3" /> from the <sc>Lord,sc><n id="4" /> because he had previously told them.<n id="5" />)
