I will bring war, starvation, and disease<n id="1" /> on them until they are completely destroyed from the land I gave them and their ancestors.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

There is no reason why you and your people should die in war<n id="1" /> or from starvation or disease!<n id="2" /> That&#8217;s what the <sc>Lordsc> says will happen to any nation<n id="3" /> that will not be subject to the king of Babylon.

So now be very sure of this: You will die from war, starvation, or disease in the place where you want to go and live.&#8221;p>

But ever since we stopped sacrificing and pouring out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven, we have been in great need. Our people have died in wars or of starvation.&#8221;<n id="1" />

I will indeed<n id="1" /> see to it that disaster, not prosperity, happens to them.<n id="2" /> All the people of Judah who are in the land of Egypt will die in war or from starvation until not one of them is left.

A third of your people will die of plague or be overcome by the famine within you.<n id="1" /> A third of your people will fall by the sword surrounding you,<n id="2" /> and a third I will scatter to the winds. I will unleash a sword behind them.

I will send famine and wild beasts against you and they will take your children from you.<n id="1" /> Plague and bloodshed will overwhelm you,<n id="2" /> and I will bring a sword against you. I, the <sc>Lord,sc> have spoken!&#8221;p>

The one far away will die by pestilence, the one close by will fall by the sword, and whoever is left and has escaped these<n id="1" /> will die by famine. I will fully vent my rage against them.

I will prepare for them a healthy<n id="1" /> planting. They will no longer be victims<n id="2" /> of famine in the land and will no longer bear the insults of the nations.

I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and multiply it; I will not bring a famine on you.

I will multiply the fruit of the trees and the produce of the fields, so that you will never again suffer the disgrace of famine among the nations.

I will see to it that all the Judean remnant that was determined to go<n id="1" /> and live in the land of Egypt will be destroyed. Here in the land of Egypt they will fall in battle<n id="2" /> or perish from starvation. People of every class<n id="3" /> will die in war or from starvation. They will become an object of horror and ridicule, an example of those who have been cursed and that people use in pronouncing a curse.<n id="4" />

Then they said to Pharaoh, &#8220;We have come to live as temporary residents<n id="1" /> in the land. There<n id="2" /> is no pasture for your servants&#8217; flocks because the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. So now, please let your servants live in the land of Goshen.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh. Each<n id="1" /> of the Egyptians sold his field, for the famine was severe.<n id="2" /> So the land became Pharaoh&#8217;s.

The Israelites said to them, &#8220;If only we had died<n id="1" /> by the hand of the <sc>Lordsc> in the land of Egypt, when we sat by<n id="2" /> the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full,<n id="3" /> for you have brought us out into this desert to kill<n id="4" /> this whole assembly with hunger!&#8221;p>

instead in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and poverty<n id="1" /> you will serve your enemies whom the <sc>Lordsc> will send against you. They<n id="2" /> will place an iron yoke on your neck until they have destroyed you.

<t /><p class="bodytext">During the time of the judges<n id="1" /> there was a famine in the land of Judah.<n id="2" /> So a man from Bethlehem<n id="3" /> in Judah went to live as a resident foreigner<n id="4" /> in the region of Moab, along with his wife and two sons.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">During David&#8217;s reign there was a famine for three consecutive years. So David inquired of the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" /> The <sc>Lordsc> said, &#8220;It is because of Saul and his bloodstained family,<n id="2" /> because he murdered the Gibeonites.&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;The time will come when the land suffers from a famine, a plague, blight and disease, or a locust<n id="1" /> invasion, or when their enemy lays siege to the cities of the land,<n id="2" /> or when some other type of plague or epidemic occurs.

If we go into the city, we&#8217;ll die of starvation,<n id="1" /> and if we stay here we&#8217;ll die! So come on, let&#8217;s defect<n id="2" /> to the Syrian camp! If they spare us,<n id="3" /> we&#8217;ll live; if they kill us &#8211; well, we were going to die anyway.&#8221;<n id="4" />
