<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses and Aaron:

When Moses told<n id="1" /> these things to all the Israelites, the people mourned<n id="2" /> greatly.p>

So Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab, by the Jordan River<n id="1" /> across from Jericho.<n id="2" /> They said,

<t /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho. He said:

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses in the Moabite plains by the Jordan near Jericho.<n id="2" /> He said:

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Now the <sc>Lordsc><n id="2" /> spoke<n id="3" /> to Moses in the tent of meeting<n id="4" /> in the wilderness<n id="5" /> of Sinai<n id="6" /> on the first day of the second month of the second year after<n id="7" /> the Israelites<n id="8" /> departed from the land of Egypt.<n id="9" /> He said:<n id="10" />

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out<n id="2" /> of the land of Egypt:p>

<p class="bodytext">So Moses went out and told the people the words of the <sc>Lordsc>. He then gathered seventy men of the elders of the people and had them stand around the tabernacle.

And the people spoke against God and against Moses, &#8220;Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness, for there is no bread or water, and we<n id="1" /> detest this worthless<n id="2" /> food.&#8221;p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Moses told the leaders<n id="2" /> of the tribes concerning the Israelites, &#8220;This is what<n id="3" /> the <sc>Lordsc> has commanded:

<p class="bodytext">So Moses spoke to the people: &#8220;Arm<n id="1" /> men from among you for the war, to attack the Midianites and to execute<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s vengeance on Midian.

<p class="bodytext">Now when Moses went into<n id="1" /> the tent of meeting to speak with the <sc>Lordsc>,<n id="2" /> he heard the voice speaking to him from above the atonement lid<n id="3" /> that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim.<n id="4" /> Thus he spoke to him.p>

And the <sc>Lordsc> came down in the cloud and spoke to them, and he took some of the Spirit that was on Moses<n id="1" /> and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them,<n id="2" /> they prophesied,<n id="3" /> but did not do so again.<n id="4" />p>

Then he said to Korah and to all his company, &#8220;In the morning the <sc>Lordsc> will make known who are his, and who is holy. He will cause that person<n id="1" /> to approach him; the person he has chosen he will cause to approach him.

And he said to the community, &#8220;Move away from the tents of these wicked<n id="1" /> men, and do not touch anything they have, lest you be destroyed because<n id="2" /> of all their sins.&#8221;<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and each of their leaders gave him a staff, one for each leader,<n id="1" /> according to their tribes<n id="2" /> &#8211; twelve staffs; the staff of Aaron was among their staffs.

<t /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke to Aaron, &#8220;See, I have given you the responsibility for my raised offerings; I have given all the holy things of the Israelites to you as your priestly portion<n id="1" /> and to your sons as a perpetual ordinance.
