&#8220;I am about to make Jerusalem<n id="1" /> a cup that brings dizziness<n id="2" /> to all the surrounding nations; indeed, Judah will also be included when Jerusalem is besieged.

The <sc>Lordsc> also will deliver the homes<n id="1" /> of Judah first, so that the splendor of the kingship<n id="2" /> of David and of the people of Jerusalem may not exceed that of Judah.

This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.p>

I asked, &#8220;What are these going to do?&#8221; He answered, &#8220;These horns are the ones that have scattered Judah so that there is no one to be seen.<n id="1" /> But the blacksmiths have come to terrify Judah&#8217;s enemies<n id="2" /> and cut off the horns of the nations that have thrust themselves against the land of Judah in order to scatter its people.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

But have my words and statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, not outlived your fathers?<n id="1" /> Then they paid attention<n id="2" /> and confessed, &#8216;The <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all has indeed done what he said he would do to us, because of our sinful ways.&#8217;&#8221;p>

The angel of the <sc>Lordsc> then asked, &#8220;<sc>Lordsc> who rules over all,<n id="1" /> how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem<n id="2" /> and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?&#8221;<n id="3" />

Speak up again with the message of the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all: &#8216;My cities will once more overflow with prosperity, and once more the <sc>Lordsc> will comfort Zion and validate his choice of Jerusalem.&#8217;&#8221;p>

Listen now, Joshua the high priest, both you and your colleagues who are sitting before you, all of you<n id="1" /> are a symbol that I am about to introduce my servant, the Branch.<n id="2" />

As for the stone<n id="1" /> I have set before Joshua &#8211; on the one stone there are seven eyes.<n id="2" /> I am about to engrave an inscription on it,&#8217; says the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all, &#8216;to the effect that I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day.<n id="3" />

For who dares make light of small beginnings? These seven eyes<n id="1" /> will joyfully look on the tin tablet<n id="2" /> in Zerubbabel&#8217;s hand. (These are the eyes of the <sc>Lordsc>, which constantly range across the whole earth.)p>

Then I looked again and saw two women<n id="1" /> going forth with the wind in their wings (they had wings like those of a stork) and they lifted up the basket between the earth and the sky.

Indeed, he will build the temple of the <sc>Lord,sc> and he will be clothed in splendor, sitting as king on his throne. Moreover, there will be a priest<n id="1" /> with him on his throne and they will see eye to eye on everything.

Indeed, they made their heart as hard as diamond,<n id="1" /> so that they could not obey the Torah and the other words the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all had sent by his Spirit through the former prophets. Therefore, the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all had poured out great wrath.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;The <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all also says, &#8216;Gather strength, you who are listening to these words today from the mouths of the prophets who were there at the founding of the house of the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all,<n id="1" /> so that the temple might be built.

Before that time there was no compensation for man or animal, nor was there any relief from adversity for those who came and went, because I had pitted everybody &#8211; each one &#8211; against everyone else.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I (says the <sc>Lordsc>) will strengthen the kingdom<n id="1" /> of Judah and deliver the people of Joseph<n id="2" /> and will bring them back<n id="3" /> because of my compassion for them. They will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the <sc>Lordsc> their God and therefore I will hear them.

Moreover, on that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy burden<n id="1" /> for all the nations, and all who try to carry it will be seriously injured;<n id="2" /> yet all the peoples of the earth will be assembled against it.

In that day,&#8221; says the <sc>Lordsc>, &#8220;I will strike every horse with confusion and its rider with madness. I will pay close attention to the house of Judah, but will strike all the horses<n id="1" /> of the nations<n id="2" /> with blindness.

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I will pour out on the kingship<n id="1" /> of David and the population of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication so that they will look to me,<n id="2" /> the one they have pierced. They will lament for him as one laments for an only son, and there will be a bitter cry for him like the bitter cry for a firstborn.<n id="3" />

<p class="poetry">&#8220;Awake, sword, against my shepherd,p> <p class="poetry">against the man who is my associate,&#8221;p> <p class="poetry">says the <sc>Lordsc> who rules over all.p> <p class="poetry">Strike the shepherd that the flock may be scattered;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">I will turn my hand against the insignificant ones.p>
