Now, as certainly as the <sc>Lordsc> lives (he who made me secure, allowed me to sit on my father David&#8217;s throne, and established a dynasty<n id="1" /> for me as he promised), Adonijah will be executed today!&#8221;

The king told him, &#8220;Do as he said! Strike him down and bury him. Take away from me and from my father&#8217;s family<n id="1" /> the guilt of Joab&#8217;s murderous, bloody deeds.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Solomon made an alliance by marriage with Pharaoh, king of Egypt; he married Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter. He brought her to the City of David<n id="1" /> until he could finish building his residence and the temple of the <sc>Lordsc> and the wall around Jerusalem.<n id="2" />

He named<n id="1" /> it &#8220;The Palace of the Lebanon Forest&#8221;;<n id="2" /> it was 150 feet<n id="3" /> long, 75 feet<n id="4" /> wide, and 45 feet<n id="5" /> high. It had four rows of cedar pillars and cedar beams above the pillars.

<p class="bodytext">Hiram also made basins, shovels, and bowls. He<n id="1" /> finished all the work on the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple he had been assigned by King Solomon.<n id="2" />

Solomon offered as peace offerings<n id="1" /> to the <sc>Lordsc> 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep. Then the king and all the Israelites dedicated the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple.

<p class="bodytext">Here are the details concerning the work crews<n id="1" /> King Solomon conscripted<n id="2" /> to build the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple, his palace, the terrace, the wall of Jerusalem,<n id="3" /> and the cities of<n id="4" /> Hazor,<n id="5" /> Megiddo,<n id="6" /> and Gezer.

His advisers<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Look, we have heard that the kings of the Israelite dynasty are kind.<n id="2" /> Allow us to put sackcloth around our waists and ropes on our heads<n id="3" /> and surrender<n id="4" /> to the king of Israel. Maybe he will spare our lives.&#8221;

That day the king consecrated the middle of the courtyard that is in front of the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple. He offered there burnt sacrifices, grain offerings, and the fat from the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that stood before the <sc>Lordsc> was too small to hold all these offerings.<n id="1" />

You must obey<n id="1" /> all I command you to do, follow my instructions,<n id="2" /> do what I approve,<n id="3" /> and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David;<n id="4" /> I will give you Israel.
