When you enter the vineyard of your neighbor you may eat as many grapes as you please, ¹  but you must not take away any in a container. ² 

When you make any kind of loan to your neighbor, you may not go into his house to claim what he is offering as security. ¹ 

When you beat your olive tree you must not repeat the procedure; ¹  the remaining olives belong to the resident foreigner, orphan, and widow.

When you gather the grapes of your vineyard you must not do so a second time; ¹  they should go to the resident foreigner, orphan, and widow.

For anyone who acts dishonestly in these ways is abhorrent ¹  to the Lord your God.

All these blessings will come to you in abundance ¹  if you obey the Lord your God:

Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you belong to the Lord, ¹  and they will respect you.

“You will take much seed to the field but gather little harvest, because locusts will consume it.

You will plant vineyards and cultivate them, but you will not drink wine or gather in grapes, because worms will eat them.

You will have olive trees throughout your territory but you will not anoint yourself with olive oil, because the olives will drop off the trees while still unripe. ¹ 

You will bear sons and daughters but not keep them, because they will be taken into captivity.

For their vine is from the stock ¹  of Sodom, and from the fields of Gomorrah. ²  Their grapes contain venom, their clusters of grapes are bitter.

For I raise up my hand to heaven, and say, ‘As surely as I live forever,

Do not be hostile toward them, because I am not giving you any of their land, not even a footprint, for I have given Mount Seir ¹  as an inheritance for Esau.

Then the Lord said to me, “Do not harass Moab and provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land as your territory. This is because I have given Ar ¹  to the descendants of Lot ²  as their possession.

But when you come close to the Ammonites, do not harass or provoke them because I am not giving you any of the Ammonites’ land as your possession; I have already given it to Lot’s descendants ¹  as their possession.

I invoke heaven and earth as witnesses against you ¹  today that you will surely and swiftly be removed ²  from the very land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess. You will not last long there because you will surely be ³  annihilated.

So he humbled you by making you hungry and then feeding you with unfamiliar manna. ¹  He did this to teach you ²  that humankind ³  cannot live by bread ⁴  alone, but also by everything that comes from the Lord’s mouth. ⁵ 

When the Lord your God extends your borders as he said he would do and you say, “I want to eat meat just as I please,” ¹  you may do so as you wish. ² 

You must not worship the Lord your God the way they do! ¹  For everything that is abhorrent ²  to him, ³  everything he hates, they have done when worshiping their gods. They even burn up their sons and daughters before their gods!
