(The cherubim appeared to have the form ¹  of human hands under their wings.)

As I watched, I noticed ¹  four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub; ²  the wheels gleamed like jasper. ³ 

He made me walk all around among them. ¹  I realized ²  there were a great many bones in the valley and they were very dry.

Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple. I noticed ¹  that water was flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from under the right side of the temple, from south of the altar.

He said to me, “Son of man, look up toward ¹  the north.” So I looked up toward the north, and I noticed to the north of the altar gate was this statue of jealousy at the entrance.

Their rims were high and awesome, ¹  and the rims of all four wheels were full of eyes all around.

Then a wind ¹  lifted me up and brought me to the inner court; I watched ²  the glory of the Lord filling the temple. ³ 

He unrolled it before me, and it had writing on the front ¹  and back; ²  written on it were laments, mourning, and woe.

Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the Lord’s house. I noticed ¹  women sitting there weeping for Tammuz. ² 

Therefore you will no longer see false visions and practice divination. I will rescue my people from your power, and you ¹  will know that I am the Lord.’”

I acted for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

He led me out by way of the north gate and brought me around the outside of the outer gate that faces toward the east; I noticed ¹  that the water was trickling out from the south side.

Next, I noticed ¹  six men ²  coming from the direction of the upper gate ³  which faces north, each with his war club in his hand. Among them was a man dressed in linen with a writing kit ⁴  at his side. They came and stood beside the bronze altar.
