<p class="bodytext">The rest of the events of Jeroboam&#8217;s reign, including all his accomplishments, his military success in restoring Israelite control over Damascus and Hamath, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">To this very day they observe their earlier practices. They do not worship<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc>; they do not obey the rules, regulations, law, and commandments that the <sc>Lordsc> gave<n id="2" /> the descendants of Jacob, whom he renamed Israel.

These nations are worshiping the <sc>Lordsc> and at the same time serving their idols; their sons and grandsons do just as their fathers have done, to this very day.p>

He eliminated the high places, smashed the sacred pillars to bits, and cut down the Asherah pole.<n id="1" /> He also demolished the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for up to that time<n id="2" /> the Israelites had been offering incense to it; it was called Nehushtan.<n id="3" />

One day,<n id="1" /> as he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch,<n id="2" /> his sons<n id="3" /> Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword.<n id="4" /> They escaped to the land of Ararat; his son Esarhaddon replaced him as king.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness.<n id="1" /> The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him, &#8220;This is what the <sc>Lordsc> says, &#8216;Give your household instructions, for you are about to die; you will not get well.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">The rest of the events of Hezekiah&#8217;s reign and all his accomplishments, including how he built a pool and conduit to bring<n id="1" /> water into the city, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Judah.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Josiah also removed all the shrines on the high places in the cities of Samaria. The kings of Israel had made them and angered the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" /> He did to them what he had done to the high place in Bethel.<n id="2" />

They crossed the Jordan River<n id="1" /> in the first month,<n id="2" /> when it was overflowing its banks, and routed those living in all the valleys to the east and west.<n id="3" />p>

Joab replied, &#8220;May the <sc>Lordsc> make his army<n id="1" /> a hundred times larger! My master, O king, do not all of them serve my master? Why does my master want to do this? Why bring judgment on Israel?&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Just like their relatives, the descendants of Aaron, they also cast lots before King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, the leaders of families, the priests, and the Levites. The families of the oldest son cast lots along with the those of the youngest.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="bodytext">Solomon moved Pharaoh&#8217;s daughter up from the City of David<n id="1" /> to the palace he had built for her, for he said, &#8220;My wife must not live in the palace of King David of Israel, for the places where the ark of the <sc>Lordsc> has entered are holy.&#8221;p>

With the timber the king made steps<n id="1" /> for the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple and royal palace as well as stringed instruments<n id="2" /> for the musicians. No one had seen anything like them in the land of Judah prior to that.<n id="3" />)

When the <sc>Lordsc> saw that they humbled themselves, he gave this message to Shemaiah:<n id="1" /> &#8220;They have humbled themselves, so I will not destroy them. I will deliver them soon.<n id="2" /> My anger will not be unleashed against<n id="3" /> Jerusalem through<n id="4" /> Shishak.

and Asa and his army chased them as far as Gerar. The Cushites were wiped out;<n id="1" /> they were shattered before the <sc>Lordsc> and his army. The men of Judah<n id="2" /> carried off a huge amount of plunder.

Now the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, &#8220;Look, the prophets are in complete agreement that the king will succeed.<n id="1" /> Your words must agree with theirs; you must predict success!&#8221;<n id="2" />

When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said, &#8220;He must be the king of Israel!&#8221; So they turned and attacked him, but Jehoshaphat cried out. The <sc>Lordsc> helped him; God lured them away from him.

Their father gave them many presents, including silver, gold, and other precious items, along with fortified cities in Judah. But he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.p>

and the whole assembly made a covenant with the king in the temple of God. Jehoiada<n id="1" /> said to them, &#8220;The king&#8217;s son will rule, just as the <sc>Lordsc> promised David&#8217;s descendants.
