When the seven days were almost over,<n id="1" /> the Jews from the province of Asia<n id="2" /> who had seen him in the temple area<n id="3" /> stirred up the whole crowd<n id="4" /> and seized<n id="5" /> him,

When the commanding officer<n id="1" /> had given him permission,<n id="2" /> Paul stood<n id="3" /> on the steps and gestured<n id="4" /> to the people with his hand. When they had become silent,<n id="5" /> he addressed<n id="6" /> them in Aramaic,<n id="7" />p>

<p class="bodytext">After Festus<n id="1" /> had stayed<n id="2" /> not more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to Caesarea,<n id="3" /> and the next day he sat<n id="4" /> on the judgment seat<n id="5" /> and ordered Paul to be brought.

But Festus,<n id="1" /> wanting to do the Jews a favor, asked Paul, &#8220;Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and be tried<n id="2" /> before me there on these charges?&#8221;<n id="3" />

Paul replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I am standing before Caesar&#8217;s<n id="2" /> judgment seat,<n id="3" /> where I should be tried.<n id="4" /> I have done nothing wrong<n id="5" /> to the Jews, as you also know very well.<n id="6" />

But get up and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this reason, to designate you in advance<n id="1" /> as a servant and witness<n id="2" /> to the things<n id="3" /> you have seen<n id="4" /> and to the things in which I will appear to you.

to open their eyes so that they turn<n id="1" /> from darkness to light and from the power<n id="2" /> of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share<n id="3" /> among those who are sanctified by faith in me.&#8217;p>

but I declared to those in Damascus first, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea,<n id="1" /> and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God,<n id="2" /> performing deeds consistent with<n id="3" /> repentance.

But the centurion,<n id="1" /> wanting to save Paul&#8217;s life,<n id="2" /> prevented them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land,<n id="3" />

But they were expecting that he was going to swell up<n id="1" /> or suddenly drop dead. So after they had waited<n id="2" /> a long time and had seen<n id="3" /> nothing unusual happen<n id="4" /> to him, they changed their minds<n id="5" /> and said he was a god.<n id="6" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people<n id="1" /> because<n id="2" /> all sinned &#8211;

Rather, <i><b>if your enemy is hungryb>, <b>feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his headb>i>.<n id="1" />

Your obedience is known to all and thus I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.

But just as it is written, &#8220;<i><b>Things that no eye has seenb>, <b>or ear heardb>, <b>or mind imaginedb>,i><n id="1" /> <i><b>are the things God has prepared for those who love himb>.i>&#8221;<n id="2" />

Do not deprive each other, except by mutual agreement for a specified time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer.<n id="1" /> Then resume your relationship,<n id="2" /> so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

<p class="bodytext">If anyone thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his virgin,<n id="1" /> if she is past the bloom of youth<n id="2" /> and it seems necessary, he should do what he wishes; he does not sin. Let them marry.

<p class="bodytext">A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies,<n id="1" /> she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord).

Otherwise, if you are praising God with your spirit, how can someone without the gift<n id="1" /> say &#8220;Amen&#8221; to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?

The secrets of his heart are disclosed, and in this way he will fall down with his face to the ground and worship God, declaring, &#8220;God is really among you.&#8221;p>

who comforts us in all our troubles<n id="1" /> so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble<n id="2" /> with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
