Now I rejoice, not because you were made sad,<n id="1" /> but because you were made sad to the point of repentance. For you were made sad as God intended,<n id="2" /> so that you were not harmed<n id="3" /> in any way by us.

Are they servants of Christ? (I am talking like I am out of my mind!) I am even more so: with much greater labors, with far more imprisonments, with more severe beatings, facing death many times.

Thus<n id="1" /> we urged<n id="2" /> Titus that, just as he had previously begun this work,<n id="3" /> so also he should complete this act of kindness<n id="4" /> for you.

to finish what you started,<n id="1" /> so that just as you wanted to do it eagerly,<n id="2" /> you can also complete it<n id="3" /> according to your means.<n id="4" />

since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He<n id="1" /> is not weak toward you but is powerful among you.

And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord,<n id="1" /> are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another,<n id="2" /> which is from<n id="3" /> the Lord, who is the Spirit.<n id="4" />p>

At the present time, your abundance will meet their need,<n id="1" /> so that one day their abundance may also meet your need, and thus there may be equality,

but when one<n id="1" /> turns to the Lord, <i>the veil is removedi>.<n id="2" />

because I know your eagerness to help.<n id="1" /> I keep boasting to the Macedonians about this eagerness of yours,<n id="2" /> that Achaia has been ready to give<n id="3" /> since last year, and your zeal to participate<n id="4" /> has stirred up most of them.<n id="5" />

But we will not boast beyond certain limits,<n id="1" /> but will confine our boasting<n id="2" /> according to the limits of the work to which God has appointed us,<n id="3" /> that reaches even as far as you.

(To my disgrace<n id="1" /> I must say that we were too weak for that!)<n id="2" /> But whatever anyone else dares to boast about<n id="3" /> (I am speaking foolishly), I also dare to boast about the same thing.<n id="4" />

so that now instead<n id="1" /> you should rather forgive and comfort him.<n id="2" /> This will keep him from being overwhelmed by excessive grief to the point of despair.<n id="3" />

We are not trying to commend<n id="1" /> ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to be proud of us,<n id="2" /> so that you may be able to answer those who take pride<n id="3" /> in outward appearance<n id="4" /> and not in what is in the heart.
