This was a symbol for the time then present, when gifts and sacrifices were offered that could not perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging his name.

but of<n id="1" /> the Son he says,<n id="2" />p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8220;<i><b>Your throneb>, <b>O Godb>i>, <i><b>is forever and everb>,i><n id="3" />p> <p class="otpoetry"><b><i>and a righteous scepteri>b><n id="4" /> <i><b>is the scepter of your kingdomb>.i>p>

and he reasoned<n id="1" /> that God could even raise him from the dead, and in a sense<n id="2" /> he received him back from there.

<p class="bodytext">Endure your suffering<n id="1" /> as discipline;<n id="2" /> God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?

For the law appoints as high priests men subject to weakness,<n id="1" /> but the word of solemn affirmation that came after the law appoints a son made perfect forever.p>

Without father, without mother, without genealogy, he has neither beginning of days nor end of life but is like the son of God, and he remains a priest for all time.

Yet the one these things are spoken about belongs to<n id="1" /> a different tribe, and no one from that tribe<n id="2" /> has ever officiated at the altar.

By faith Abel offered God a greater sacrifice than Cain, and through his faith<n id="1" /> he was commended as righteous, because God commended him for his offerings. And through his faith<n id="2" /> he still speaks, though he is dead.

Therefore he had<n id="1" /> to be made like his brothers and sisters<n id="2" /> in every respect, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in things relating to God, to make atonement<n id="3" /> for the sins of the people.

For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands &#8211; the representation<n id="1" /> of the true sanctuary<n id="2" /> &#8211; but into heaven itself, and he appears now in God&#8217;s presence for us.

in these last days he has spoken to us in a son,<n id="1" /> whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he created the world.<n id="2" />

but we see Jesus, who was made <b><i>lower than the angels for a little whilei>b>,<n id="1" /> now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death,<n id="2" /> so that by God&#8217;s grace he would experience<n id="3" /> death on behalf of everyone.

But<n id="1" /> showing its fault,<n id="2" /> God<n id="3" /> says to them,<n id="4" />p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8220;<i><b>Lookb>, <b>the days are comingb>, <b>says the Lordb>, <b>when I will complete a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judahb>.i>p>

But only the high priest enters once a year into the inner tent,<n id="1" /> and not without blood that he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance.<n id="2" />

so also, after Christ was offered once to <i>bear the sins of manyi>,<n id="1" /> to those who eagerly await him he will appear a second time, not to bear sin<n id="2" /> but to bring salvation.<n id="3" />p>

But Christ<n id="1" /> is faithful as a son over God&#8217;s<n id="2" /> house. We are of his house,<n id="3" /> if in fact we hold firmly<n id="4" /> to our confidence and the hope we take pride in.<n id="5" />p>

For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin.

And those of the sons of Levi who receive the priestly office<n id="1" /> have authorization according to the law to collect a tithe from the people, that is, from their fellow countrymen,<n id="2" /> although they too are descendants of Abraham.<n id="3" />

let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings,<n id="1" /> because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience<n id="2" /> and our bodies washed in pure water.
