Now ¹  Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, ²  and the crowd was pressing around him ³  to hear the word of God.

Now ¹  one Sabbath when Jesus went to dine ²  at the house of a leader ³  of the Pharisees, ⁴  they were watching ⁵  him closely.

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “I ask you, ²  is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?”

The people ¹  of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented when Jonah preached to them ²  – and now, ³  something greater than Jonah is here!

Now ¹  while Zechariah ²  was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, ³ 

Now when ¹  all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. And while he was praying, ²  the heavens ³  opened,

Then ¹  he began to tell them, “Today ²  this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read.” ³ 

So ¹  he went down to Capernaum, ²  a town ³  in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he began to teach the people. ⁴ 

On ¹  another Sabbath, Jesus ²  entered the synagogue ³  and was teaching. Now ⁴  a man was there whose right hand was withered. ⁵ 

Now ¹  it was during this time that Jesus ²  went out to the mountain ³  to pray, and he spent all night ⁴  in prayer to God. ⁵ 

This ¹  report ²  about Jesus ³  circulated ⁴  throughout ⁵  Judea and all the surrounding country.

While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus ¹  from one town after another, ²  he spoke to them ³  in a parable:

After ¹  Jesus ²  called ³  the twelve ⁴  together, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure ⁵  diseases,

Yet ¹  another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say goodbye to my family.” ² 

And when you see the south wind ¹  blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and there is.

Jesus ¹  said to his disciples, “Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe ²  to the one through whom they come!

Then ¹  Jesus ²  told them a parable to show them they should always ³  pray and not lose heart. ⁴ 

Then ¹  Jesus said to him, “Today salvation ²  has come to this household, ³  because he too is a son of Abraham! ⁴ 

For ¹  it will overtake ²  all who live on the face of the whole earth. ³ 

And Jesus ¹  said to him, “I tell you the truth, ²  today ³  you will be with me in paradise.” ⁴
