Then I said to you, “You have come to the Amorite hill country which the Lord our God is about to give ¹  us.

the Lord our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, along with his sons ¹  and everyone else. ² 

Have a people ever heard the voice of God speaking from the middle of fire, as you yourselves have, and lived to tell about it?

The Lord your God will give them over to you; he will throw them into a great panic ¹  until they are destroyed.

You will eat your fill and then praise the Lord your God because of the good land he has given you.

You must love the Lord your God and do what he requires; keep his statutes, ordinances, and commandments ¹  at all times.

Suppose you should hear in one of your cities, which the Lord your God is giving you as a place to live, that

Every one of you must give as you are able, ¹  according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

You must pursue justice alone ¹  so that you may live and inherit the land the Lord your God is giving you.

You must not plant any kind of tree as a sacred Asherah pole ¹  near the altar of the Lord your God which you build for yourself.

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you – from your fellow Israelites; ¹  you must listen to him.

you must set apart for yourselves three cities ¹  in the middle of your land that the Lord your God is giving you as a possession.

When you go out to do battle with your enemies and the Lord your God allows you to prevail ¹  and you take prisoners,

Then you must build an altar there to the Lord your God, an altar of stones – do not use an iron tool on them.

Then the Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies, on those who hate you and persecute you.

There is no one like God, O Jeshurun, ¹  who rides through the sky ²  to help you, on the clouds in majesty.

You must never bring the pay of a female prostitute ¹  or the wage of a male prostitute ²  into the temple of the Lord your God in fulfillment of any vow, for both of these are abhorrent to the Lord your God.

Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you except to revere him, ¹  to obey all his commandments, ²  to love him, to serve him ³  with all your mind and being, ⁴ 

Thus you must obey the Lord your God, keeping all his commandments that I am giving ¹  you today and doing what is right ²  before him. ³ 

(for he ¹  is a merciful God), he will not let you down ²  or destroy you, for he cannot ³  forget the covenant with your ancestors that he confirmed by oath to them.
