He said to them, “This is my blood, the blood ¹  of the covenant, ²  that is poured out for many.

You have heard the blasphemy! What is your verdict?” ¹  They all condemned him as deserving death.

Then he began to curse, and he swore with an oath, “I do not know this man you are talking about!”

For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ ¹  and, ‘Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’ ² 

For whoever wants to save his life ¹  will lose it, ²  but whoever loses his life for my sake and for the gospel will save it.

but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.” ¹ 

Both those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting, “Hosanna! ¹  Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! ² 

But he was silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him, ¹  “Are you the Christ, ²  the Son of the Blessed One?”

Then ¹  he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. After he took the seven loaves and gave thanks, he broke them and began giving them to the disciples to serve. So ²  they served the crowd.

While they were eating, he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take it. This is my body.”

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ ² 

He came a third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? ¹  Enough of that! ²  The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. He ¹  gave them to his ²  disciples to serve the people, and he divided the two fish among them all.

I tell you the truth, ¹  if someone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

When they arrest you and hand you over for trial, do not worry about what to speak. But say whatever is given you at that time, ¹  for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
