So ¹  he carried me away in the Spirit ²  to a wilderness, ³  and there ⁴  I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of those who testified to Jesus. ¹  I ²  was greatly astounded ³  when I saw her.

Then ¹  I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, so you will not take part in her sins and so you will not receive her plagues,

Then ¹  I heard what sounded like the voice of a vast throng, like the roar of many waters and like loud crashes of thunder. They were shouting: ²  “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, ³  the All-Powerful, ⁴  reigns!

Then ¹  the angel ²  said to me, “Write the following: Blessed are those who are invited to the banquet at the wedding celebration of the Lamb!” He also said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

So ¹  he took me away in the Spirit ²  to a huge, majestic mountain ³  and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.

But ¹  he said to me, “Do not do this! ²  I am a fellow servant ³  with you and with your brothers the prophets, and with those who obey ⁴  the words of this book. Worship God!”

I testify to the one who hears the words of the prophecy contained in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described ¹  in this book.

I ¹  have given her time to repent, but ²  she is not willing to repent of her sexual immorality.

Immediately I was in the Spirit, ¹  and ²  a throne was standing ³  in heaven with someone seated on it!

You have appointed ¹  them ²  as a kingdom and priests ³  to serve ⁴  our God, and they will reign ⁵  on the earth.”

Then ¹  when the Lamb ²  opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!”

Then ¹  when the Lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!”

Now ¹  I heard the number of those who were marked with the seal, ²  one hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed from all ³  the tribes of the people of Israel: ⁴ 

Then ¹  I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

The ¹  number of soldiers on horseback was two hundred million; ²  I heard their number.

Then ¹  they ²  told me: “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, ³  languages, and kings.”

After ¹  these things I looked, and the temple (the tent ²  of the testimony) ³  was opened in heaven,

(Look! I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy expressed in this book.) ¹ 

So ¹  I said to him, “My lord, you know the answer.” ²  Then ³  he said to me, “These are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation. They ⁴  have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb!
