Then the Jewish leaders<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;This temple has been under construction<n id="2" /> for forty-six years,<n id="3" /> and are you going to raise it up in three days?&#8221;

So he asked them the time<n id="1" /> when his condition began to improve,<n id="2" /> and<n id="3" /> they told him, &#8220;Yesterday at one o&#8217;clock in the afternoon<n id="4" /> the fever left him.&#8221;

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things,<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;This is a difficult<n id="2" /> saying!<n id="3" /> Who can understand it?&#8221;<n id="4" />

They replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You aren&#8217;t from Galilee too, are you?<n id="2" /> Investigate carefully and you will see that no prophet<n id="3" /> comes from Galilee!&#8221;p>

You people<n id="1" /> are doing the deeds of your father.&#8221;p> <p class="bodytext">Then<n id="2" /> they said to Jesus,<n id="3" /> &#8220;We were not born as a result of immorality!<n id="4" /> We have only one Father, God himself.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">The Judeans<n id="1" /> replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Aren&#8217;t we correct in saying<n id="3" /> that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?&#8221;<n id="4" />

So his parents replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.

They replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You were born completely in sinfulness,<n id="2" /> and yet you presume to teach us?&#8221;<n id="3" /> So they threw him out.p>

But some of them said, &#8220;This is the man who caused the blind man to see!<n id="1" /> Couldn&#8217;t he have done something to keep Lazarus<n id="2" /> from dying?&#8221;p>

Thus the Pharisees<n id="1" /> said to one another, &#8220;You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">When they were released, Peter and John<n id="1" /> went to their fellow believers<n id="2" /> and reported everything the high priests and the elders had said to them.

So the twelve<n id="1" /> called<n id="2" /> the whole group<n id="3" /> of the disciples together and said, &#8220;It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to wait on tables.<n id="4" />

But they said to her, &#8220;You&#8217;ve lost your mind!&#8221;<n id="1" /> But she kept insisting that it was Peter,<n id="2" /> and they kept saying,<n id="3" /> &#8220;It is his angel!&#8221;<n id="4" />

When<n id="1" /> they had brought them<n id="2" /> before the magistrates, they said, &#8220;These men are throwing our city into confusion.<n id="3" /> They are<n id="4" /> Jews

They<n id="1" /> went<n id="2" /> to the chief priests<n id="3" /> and the elders and said, &#8220;We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath<n id="4" /> not to partake<n id="5" /> of anything until we have killed Paul.

and said to him, &#8220;Do you hear what they are saying?&#8221; Jesus said to them, &#8220;Yes. Have you never read, &#8216;<b><i>Out of the mouths of children and nursing infants you have prepared praise for yourselfi>b>&#8217;?&#8221;<n id="1" />

But the rest said, &#8220;Leave him alone! Let&#8217;s see if Elijah will come to save him.&#8221;<n id="1" />

They said to him, &#8220;We are able.&#8221;<n id="1" /> Then Jesus said to them, &#8220;You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I experience,

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> they said to him, &#8220;John&#8217;s<n id="2" /> disciples frequently fast<n id="3" /> and pray,<n id="4" /> and so do the disciples of the Pharisees,<n id="5" /> but yours continue to eat and drink.&#8221;<n id="6" />

When<n id="1" /> the men came to Jesus,<n id="2" /> they said, &#8220;John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask,<n id="3" /> &#8216;Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?&#8217;&#8221;<n id="4" />
