<p class="bodytext">Now when the centurion<n id="1" /> saw what had happened, he praised God and said, &#8220;Certainly this man was innocent!&#8221;<n id="2" />

(He<n id="1" /> had not consented<n id="2" /> to their plan and action.) He<n id="3" /> was from the Judean town<n id="4" /> of Arimathea, and was looking forward to<n id="5" /> the kingdom of God.<n id="6" />

Then<n id="1" /> he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth,<n id="2" /> and placed it<n id="3" /> in a tomb cut out of the rock,<n id="4" /> where no one had yet been buried.<n id="5" />

They<n id="1" /> said to each other, &#8220;Didn&#8217;t<n id="2" /> our hearts<n id="3" /> burn within us<n id="4" /> while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining<n id="5" /> the scriptures to us?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now on<n id="1" /> one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Pharisees<n id="2" /> and teachers of the law<n id="3" /> sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem),<n id="4" /> and the power of the Lord was with him<n id="5" /> to heal.

When<n id="1" /> he came out, he was not able to speak to them. They<n id="2" /> realized that he had seen a vision<n id="3" /> in the holy place,<n id="4" /> because<n id="5" /> he was making signs to them and remained unable to speak.<n id="6" />

All<n id="1" /> who heard these things<n id="2" /> kept them in their hearts,<n id="3" /> saying, &#8220;What then will this child be?&#8221;<n id="4" /> For the Lord&#8217;s hand<n id="5" /> was indeed with him.p>

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in strips of cloth<n id="1" /> and laid him in a manger,<n id="2" /> because there was no place for them in the inn.<n id="3" />p>

Then<n id="1" /> he went down with them and came to Nazareth,<n id="2" /> and was obedient<n id="3" /> to them. But<n id="4" /> his mother kept all these things<n id="5" /> in her heart.<n id="6" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> came to Nazareth,<n id="3" /> where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue<n id="4" /> on the Sabbath day, as was his custom.<n id="5" /> He<n id="6" /> stood up to read,<n id="7" />

<p class="bodytext">After Jesus left<n id="1" /> the synagogue, he entered Simon&#8217;s house. Now Simon&#8217;s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus<n id="2" /> to help her.<n id="3" />

He got into<n id="1" /> one of the boats, which was Simon&#8217;s, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then<n id="2" /> Jesus<n id="3" /> sat down<n id="4" /> and taught the crowds from the boat.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this,<n id="1" /> he said to himself, &#8220;If this man were a prophet,<n id="2" /> he would know who and what kind of woman<n id="3" /> this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.&#8221;

When<n id="1" /> the woman saw that she could not escape notice,<n id="2" /> she came trembling and fell down before him. In<n id="3" /> the presence of all the people, she explained why<n id="4" /> she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed.

But they did not understand this statement; its meaning<n id="1" /> had been concealed<n id="2" /> from them, so that they could not grasp it. Yet<n id="3" /> they were afraid to ask him about this statement.p>

Then<n id="1" /> shouldn&#8217;t<n id="2" /> this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan<n id="3" /> bound for eighteen long<n id="4" /> years, be released from this imprisonment<n id="5" /> on the Sabbath day?&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> also said to the disciples, &#8220;There was a rich man who was informed of accusations<n id="2" /> that his manager<n id="3" /> was wasting<n id="4" /> his assets.

He said to them, &#8220;Listen,<n id="1" /> when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water<n id="2" /> will meet you.<n id="3" /> Follow him into the house that he enters,

When<n id="1" /> Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform<n id="2" /> some miraculous sign.<n id="3" />
