Then the righteous will answer him, ¹  ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

“Then he will say ¹  to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!

Then he will answer them, ¹  ‘I tell you the truth, ²  just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.’

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.

Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

Jesus ¹  said to him, “Friend, do what you are here to do.” Then they came and took hold ²  of Jesus and arrested him.

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back in its place! ¹  For all who take hold of the sword will die by the sword.

But this has happened so that ¹  the scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.

Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared, ¹  “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now ²  you have heard the blasphemy!

Now when ¹  Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus ²  had been condemned, he regretted what he had done and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders,

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence ¹  and gathered the whole cohort ²  around him.

Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. They will see me there.”

Then ¹  the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, ²  and ³  all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They ⁴  will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven ⁵  with power and great glory.

But so that you may know ¹  that the Son of Man ²  has authority on earth to forgive sins” – then he said to the paralytic ³  – “Stand up, take your stretcher, and go home.” ⁴ 

Jesus said to them, “The wedding guests ¹  cannot mourn while the bridegroom ²  is with them, can they? But the days ³  are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, ⁴  and then they will fast.

How ¹  else can someone enter a strong man’s ²  house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can thoroughly plunder the house. ³ 

Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

Then ¹  Jesus answered her, “Woman, ²  your faith is great! Let what you want be done for you.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

From that time on ¹  Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem ²  and suffer ³  many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, ⁴  and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to become my follower, ¹  he must deny ²  himself, take up his cross, ³  and follow me.
