When he has made her drink the water, then, if she has defiled herself and behaved unfaithfully toward her husband, the water that brings a curse will enter her to produce bitterness – her abdomen will swell, her thigh will fall away, and the woman will become a curse among her people.

<p class="bodytext">It happened that some men<n id="1" /> who were ceremonially defiled<n id="2" /> by the dead body of a man<n id="3" /> could not keep<n id="4" /> the Passover on that day, so they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

&#8220;Our father died in the wilderness, although<n id="1" /> he was not part of<n id="2" /> the company of those that gathered themselves together against the <sc>Lordsc> in the company of Korah; but he died for his own sin,<n id="3" /> and he had no sons.

Now if they should be married to one of the men<n id="1" /> from another Israelite tribe, their inheritance would be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry.<n id="2" /> As a result, it will be taken from the lot of our inheritance.

<p class="bodytext">These were the men whom Moses and Aaron numbered<n id="1" /> along with the twelve leaders of Israel, each of whom<n id="2" /> was from his own family.

All the Israelites who were twenty years old or older, who could serve in Israel&#8217;s army, were numbered<n id="1" /> according to their families.

But the Levites must camp around the tabernacle of the testimony, so that the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s anger<n id="1" /> will not fall on the Israelite community. The Levites are responsible for the care<n id="2" /> of the tabernacle of the testimony.&#8221;p>

&#8220;Look,<n id="1" /> I myself have taken the Levites from among the Israelites instead of<n id="2" /> every firstborn who opens the womb among the Israelites. So the Levites belong to me,

And all the firstborn males, by the number of the names from a month old and upward, totaled 22,273.p>

&#8220;Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn males among the Israelites, and the livestock of the Levites instead of their livestock. And the Levites will be mine. I am the <sc>Lordsc>.

The priest will then take holy water<n id="1" /> in a pottery jar, and take some<n id="2" /> of the dust<n id="3" /> that is on the floor of the tabernacle, and put it into the water.

&#8220;Receive these gifts<n id="1" /> from them, that they may be<n id="2" /> used in doing the work<n id="3" /> of the tent of meeting; and you must give them to the Levites, to every man<n id="4" /> as his service requires.&#8221;<n id="5" />p>

and Aaron is to offer<n id="1" /> the Levites before the <sc>Lordsc> as a wave offering from the Israelites, that they may do the work<n id="2" /> of the <sc>Lordsc>.

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">On<n id="2" /> the day that the tabernacle was set up,<n id="3" /> the cloud<n id="4" /> covered the tabernacle &#8211; the tent of the testimony<n id="5" /> &#8211; and from evening until morning there was<n id="6" /> a fiery appearance<n id="7" /> over the tabernacle.

<p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> the cloud remained over the tabernacle a number of days,<n id="2" /> they remained camped according to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s commandment,<n id="3" /> and according to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s commandment they would journey.

And when<n id="1" /> the cloud remained only<n id="2" /> from evening until morning, when the cloud was taken up<n id="3" /> the following morning, then they traveled on. Whether by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up they traveled.

&#8220;Make<n id="1" /> two trumpets of silver; you are to make<n id="2" /> them from a single hammered piece.<n id="3" /> You will use them<n id="4" /> for assembling the community and for directing the traveling of the camps.

Moses<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;Do not leave us,<n id="2" /> because you know places for us to camp in the wilderness, and you could be our guide.<n id="3" />

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">When the people complained,<n id="2" /> it displeased<n id="3" /> the <sc>Lordsc>. When the <sc>Lordsc> heard<n id="4" /> it, his anger burned,<n id="5" /> and so<n id="6" /> the fire of the <sc>Lordsc><n id="7" /> burned among them and consumed some of the outer parts of the camp.

And the people went about and gathered it, and ground it with mills or pounded it in mortars; they baked it in pans and made cakes of it. It tasted like fresh olive oil.<n id="1" />
