They will bring them<n id="2" /> on horses, in chariots, in wagons, on mules, and on camels<n id="3" /> to my holy hill Jerusalem,&#8221; says the <sc>Lordsc>, &#8220;just as the Israelites bring offerings to the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s temple in ritually pure containers.

<p class="poetry">If the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies<n id="1" /> had not left us a few survivors,p> <p class="poetry">we would have quickly become like Sodom,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">we would have become like Gomorrah.p>

<p class="poetry">But if you refuse and rebel,p> <p class="poetry">you will be devoured<n id="1" /> by the sword.&#8221;p> <p class="poetry">Know for certain that the <sc>Lordsc> has spoken.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Therefore, the sovereign <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">the powerful ruler of Israel,<n id="2" /> says this:p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;Ah, I will seek vengeance<n id="3" /> against my adversaries,p> <p class="poetry">I will take revenge against my enemies.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">Go up into the rocky cliffs,p> <p class="poetry">hide in the ground.p> <p class="poetry">Get away from the dreadful judgment of the <sc>Lordsc>,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">from his royal splendor!p>

<p class="poetry">Proud men will be brought low,p> <p class="poetry">arrogant men will be humiliated;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">the <sc>Lordsc> alone will be exalted<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">in that day.p>

<p class="poetry">Indeed, the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies has planned a day of judgment,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">for<n id="2" /> all the high and mighty,p> <p class="poetry">for all who are proud &#8211; they will be humiliated;p>

<p class="poetry">Proud men will be humiliated,p> <p class="poetry">arrogant men will be brought low;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">the <sc>Lordsc> alone will be exalted<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">in that day.p>

&#8220;Ask for a confirming sign from the <sc>Lordsc> your God. You can even ask for something miraculous.&#8221;<n id="1" />

<p class="poetry">You must recognize the authority of the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">He is the one you must respect;p> <p class="poetry">he is the one you must fear.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">Then the <sc>Lordsc> provoked<n id="1" /> their adversaries to attack them,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">he stirred up<n id="3" /> their enemies &#8211;p>

<p class="poetry">The people did not return to the one who struck them,p> <p class="poetry">they did not seek reconciliation<n id="1" /> with the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies.p>

<p class="poetry">So the <sc>Lordsc> cut off Israel&#8217;s head and tail,p> <p class="poetry">both the shoots and stalk<n id="1" /> in one day.p>

<p class="poetry">Look, the sovereign master, the <sc>Lordsc> who commands armies,p> <p class="poetry">is ready to cut off the branches with terrifying power.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">The tallest trees<n id="2" /> will be cut down,p> <p class="poetry">the loftiest ones will be brought low.p>

<p class="poetry">He will take delight in obeying the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">He will not judge by mere appearances,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">or make decisions on the basis of hearsay.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">At that time<n id="1" /> you will say:p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;I praise you, O <sc>Lordsc>,p> <p class="poetry">for even though you were angry with me,p> <p class="poetry">your anger subsided, and you consoled me.p>
