<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> spoke<n id="1" /> to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge<n id="2" /> for the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt to bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.p>

Pharaoh will not listen to you.<n id="1" /> I will reach into<n id="2" /> Egypt and bring out my regiments,<n id="3" /> my people the Israelites, from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc><n id="2" /> said to Moses, &#8220;Get up early in the morning and position yourself before Pharaoh as he goes out to the water, and tell him, &#8216;Thus says the <sc>Lordsc>, &#8220;Release my people that they may serve me!

<p class="bodytext">Moses said, &#8220;I am going to go out<n id="1" /> from you and pray to the <sc>Lordsc>, and the swarms of flies will go away from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people tomorrow. Only do not let Pharaoh deal falsely again<n id="2" /> by not releasing<n id="3" /> the people to sacrifice to the <sc>Lordsc>.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Moses said to him, &#8220;When I leave the city<n id="1" /> I will spread my hands to the <sc>Lordsc>, the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth belongs to the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="2" />

They will fill your houses, the houses of your servants, and all the houses of Egypt, such as<n id="1" /> neither<n id="2" /> your fathers nor your grandfathers have seen since they have been<n id="3" /> in the land until this day!&#8217;&#8221; Then Moses<n id="4" /> turned and went out from Pharaoh.p>

So you will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because on this very<n id="1" /> day I brought your regiments<n id="2" /> out from the land of Egypt, and so you must keep this day perpetually as a lasting ordinance.<n id="3" />

Take a branch of hyssop,<n id="1" /> dip it in the blood that is in the basin,<n id="2" /> and apply to the top of the doorframe and the two side posts some of the blood that is in the basin. Not one of you is to go out<n id="3" /> the door of his house until morning.

Pharaoh<n id="1" /> summoned Moses and Aaron in the night and said, &#8220;Get up, get out<n id="2" /> from among my people, both you and the Israelites! Go, serve the <sc>Lordsc> as you have requested!<n id="3" />

They baked cakes of bread without yeast using the dough they had brought from Egypt, for it was made without yeast &#8211; because they were thrust out<n id="1" /> of Egypt and were not able to delay, they<n id="2" /> could not prepare<n id="3" /> food for themselves either.p>

<n id="1" /> It<n id="2" /> will be a sign<n id="3" /> for you on your hand and a memorial<n id="4" /> on your forehead,<n id="5" /> so that the law of the <sc>Lordsc> may be<n id="6" /> in your mouth,<n id="7" /> for<n id="8" /> with a mighty hand the <sc>Lordsc> brought you out of Egypt.

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">When<n id="2" /> they journeyed from Elim, the entire company<n id="3" /> of Israelites came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their exodus<n id="4" /> from the land of Egypt.

The Israelites said to them, &#8220;If only we had died<n id="1" /> by the hand of the <sc>Lordsc> in the land of Egypt, when we sat by<n id="2" /> the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full,<n id="3" /> for you have brought us out into this desert to kill<n id="4" /> this whole assembly with hunger!&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses, &#8220;I am going to rain<n id="1" /> bread from heaven for you, and the people will go out<n id="2" /> and gather the amount for each day, so that I may test them.<n id="3" /> Will they will walk in my law<n id="4" /> or not?

See, because the <sc>Lordsc> has given you the Sabbath, that is why<n id="1" /> he is giving you food for two days on the sixth day. Each of you stay where you are;<n id="2" /> let no one<n id="3" /> go out of his place on the seventh day.&#8221;

<p class="bodytext">Moses said, &#8220;This is what<n id="1" /> the <sc>Lordsc> has commanded: &#8216;Fill an omer with it to be kept<n id="2" /> for generations to come,<n id="3" /> so that they may see<n id="4" /> the food I fed you in the desert when I brought you out from the land of Egypt.&#8217;&#8221;

I will be standing<n id="1" /> before you there on<n id="2" /> the rock in Horeb, and you will strike<n id="3" /> the rock, and water will come out of it so that the people may drink.&#8221;<n id="4" /> And Moses did so in plain view<n id="5" /> of the elders of Israel.p>

So Moses said to Joshua, &#8220;Choose some of our<n id="1" /> men and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.&#8221;p>

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses&#8217; father-in-law, heard about all that God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, that<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc> had brought Israel out of Egypt.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;If men fight and hit a pregnant woman and her child is born prematurely,<n id="1" /> but there is no serious injury, he will surely be punished in accordance with what the woman&#8217;s husband demands of him, and he will pay what the court decides.<n id="2" />
