They did so; Aaron extended his hand with his staff, he struck the dust of the ground, and it became gnats on people<n id="1" /> and on animals. All the dust of the ground became gnats throughout all the land of Egypt.

Then Jethro, Moses&#8217; father-in-law, brought<n id="1" /> a burnt offering and sacrifices for God,<n id="2" /> and Aaron and all the elders of Israel came to eat food<n id="3" /> with the father-in-law of Moses before God.p>

He told the elders, &#8220;Wait for us in this place until we return to you. Here are<n id="1" /> Aaron and Hur with you. Whoever has any matters of dispute<n id="2" /> can approach<n id="3" /> them.&#8221;p>

In the tent of meeting<n id="1" /> outside the curtain that is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons are to arrange it from evening<n id="2" /> to morning before the <sc>Lordsc>. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for generations to come.<n id="3" />p>

You are to put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod, stones of memorial for the sons of Israel, and Aaron will bear their names before the <sc>Lordsc> on his two shoulders for a memorial.<n id="1" />

These must be on Aaron and his sons when they enter<n id="1" /> to the tent of meeting, or when they approach<n id="2" /> the altar to minister in the Holy Place, so that they bear no iniquity and die.<n id="3" /> It is to be a perpetual ordinance for him and for his descendants<n id="4" /> after him.<n id="5" />p>

and take the garments and clothe Aaron with the tunic,<n id="1" /> the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastpiece; you are to fasten the ephod on him by using the skillfully woven waistband.<n id="2" />

and you are to kill the ram and take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron, on the tip of the right ear of his sons, on the thumb of their right hand, and on the big toe of their right foot,<n id="1" /> and then splash the blood all around on the altar.

You are to take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it<n id="1" /> on Aaron, on his garments, on his sons, and on his sons&#8217; garments with him, so that he may be holy,<n id="2" /> he and his garments along with his sons and his sons&#8217; garments.p>

Then the <sc>Lordsc> said to Moses, &#8220;Tell Aaron, &#8216;Take your staff and stretch out your hand over Egypt&#8217;s waters &#8211; over their rivers, over their canals,<n id="1" /> over their ponds, and over all their reservoirs<n id="2" /> &#8211; so that it becomes<n id="3" /> blood.&#8217; There will be blood everywhere in<n id="4" /> the land of Egypt, even in wooden and stone containers.&#8221;

<t /><n id="1" /><p class="bodytext">When the people saw that Moses delayed<n id="2" /> in coming down<n id="3" /> from the mountain, they<n id="4" /> gathered around Aaron and said to him, &#8220;Get up,<n id="5" /> make us gods<n id="6" /> that will go before us. As for this fellow Moses,<n id="7" /> the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what<n id="8" /> has become of him!&#8221;p>
