They<n id="1" /> will have no inheritance in the midst of their fellow Israelites;<n id="2" /> the <sc>Lordsc> alone is their inheritance, just as he had told them.

There must never be found among you anyone who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire,<n id="1" /> anyone who practices divination,<n id="2" /> an omen reader,<n id="3" /> a soothsayer,<n id="4" /> a sorcerer,<n id="5" />

Now if you say to yourselves,<n id="1" /> &#8216;How can we tell that a message is not from the <sc>Lordsc>?&#8217;<n id="2" /> &#8211;

You must not pity him, but purge out the blood of the innocent<n id="1" /> from Israel, so that it may go well with you.p>

If it does not accept terms of peace but makes war with you, then you are to lay siege to it.

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must not plant your vineyard with two kinds of seed; otherwise the entire yield, both of the seed you plant and the produce of the vineyard, will be defiled.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">But if the accusation is true and the young woman was not a virgin,

<p class="bodytext">Suppose a man comes across a virgin who is not engaged and overpowers and rapes<n id="1" /> her and they are discovered.

<p class="bodytext"><v id="(23:1)" /><n id="1" /> A man may not marry<n id="2" /> his father&#8217;s former<n id="3" /> wife and in this way dishonor his father.<n id="4" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">A man with crushed<n id="1" /> or severed genitals<n id="2" /> may not enter the assembly of the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="3" />

You must not seek peace and prosperity for them through all the ages to come.

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must not return an escaped slave to his master when he has run away to you.<n id="1" />

Indeed, he may live among you in any place he chooses, in whichever of your villages<n id="1" /> he prefers; you must not oppress him.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">There must never be a sacred prostitute<n id="1" /> among the young women<n id="2" /> of Israel nor a sacred male prostitute<n id="3" /> among the young men<n id="4" /> of Israel.

<t /><p class="bodytext">You must not charge interest on a loan to your fellow Israelite,<n id="1" /> whether on money, food, or anything else that has been loaned with interest.

When you enter the vineyard of your neighbor you may eat as many grapes as you please,<n id="1" /> but you must not take away any in a container.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">When you make any kind of loan to your neighbor, you may not go into his house to claim what he is offering as security.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">You must not oppress a lowly and poor servant, whether one from among your fellow Israelites<n id="1" /> or from the resident foreigners who are living in your land and villages.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">You must not pervert justice due a resident foreigner or an orphan, or take a widow&#8217;s garment as security for a loan.

When you beat your olive tree you must not repeat the procedure;<n id="1" /> the remaining olives belong to the resident foreigner, orphan, and widow.
