When your people ¹  come to their senses ²  in the land where they are held prisoner, they will repent and beg for your mercy in the land of their imprisonment, admitting, ‘We have sinned and gone astray; ³  we have done evil.’

for the prophecy he announced with the Lord’s authority ¹  against the altar in Bethel ²  and against all the temples on the high places in the cities of the north ³  will certainly be fulfilled.”

Dogs will eat the members of your family ¹  who die in the city, and the birds of the sky will eat the ones who die in the country.”’ Indeed, the Lord has announced it!

Jeroboam inaugurated a festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, ¹  like the festival celebrated in Judah. ²  On the altar in Bethel he offered sacrifices to the calves he had made. ³  In Bethel he also appointed priests for the high places he had made.

But he replied, “I can’t go back with you ¹  or eat and drink ²  with you in this place.

Now there was an old prophet living in Bethel. ¹  When his sons came home, they told their father ²  everything the prophet ³  had done in Bethel that day and all the words he had spoken to the king. ⁴ 

All Israel will mourn him and bury him. He is the only one in Jeroboam’s family ¹  who will receive a decent burial, for he is the only one in whom the Lord God of Israel found anything good.

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijah ¹  became king over Judah.

In the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign over Israel, Asa became the king of Judah.

In the month Ziv ¹  of the fourth year of Solomon’s reign ²  the foundation was laid for the Lord’s temple.

I got up in the morning to nurse my son, and there he was, ¹  dead! But when I examined him carefully in the morning, I realized it was not my baby.” ² 

Some men came by ¹  and saw the corpse lying in the road with the lion standing beside it. ²  They went and reported what they had seen ³  in the city where the old prophet lived.

The king then said, “Cut the living child in two, and give half to one and half to the other!”

Ben-Hesed was in charge of Arubboth; he controlled Socoh and all the territory of Hepher.

Ben-Abinadab was in charge of Naphath Dor. (He was married to Solomon’s daughter Taphath.)

The tops of the two pillars in the porch were shaped like lilies and were six feet high. ¹ 

All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon during the festival ¹  in the month Ethanim ²  (the seventh month).

Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the sight of ¹  the Lord than all who were before him.

So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up and executed Joab; ¹  he was buried at his home in the wilderness.
