Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up on Mount Hor.

But I will bring in your little ones, whom you said would become victims of war, ¹  and they will enjoy ²  the land that you have despised.

So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers presented by those who had been burned up, and they were hammered out as a covering for the altar.

Then on the next morning Balak took Balaam, and brought him up to Bamoth Baal. ¹  From there he saw the extent of the nation.

After this, the Levites went in to do their work in the tent of meeting before Aaron and before his sons. As the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did.

“Bring with you your brothers, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, so that they may join ¹  with you and minister to you while ²  you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony.

Why ¹  have you brought us up from Egypt only to bring us to ²  this dreadful place? It is no place for grain, or figs, or vines, or pomegranates; nor is there any water to drink!”

Just then ¹  one of the Israelites came and brought to his brothers ²  a Midianite woman in the plain view of Moses and of ³  the whole community of the Israelites, while they ⁴  were weeping at the entrance of the tent of meeting.

So Moses sent them to the war, one thousand from every tribe, with Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, who was in charge ¹  of the holy articles ²  and the signal trumpets.

Aaron the priest ascended Mount Hor at the command ¹  of the Lord, and he died there in the fortieth year after the Israelites had come out of the land of Egypt on the first day of the fifth month.

from thirty years old and upward to fifty years old, all who enter the company ¹  to do the work in the tent of meeting.

from thirty years old and upward to fifty years old, everyone who entered the company for the work in the tent of meeting;

from thirty years old and upward to fifty years old, everyone who entered the company for the work in the tent of meeting –

So they said to one another, ¹  “Let’s appoint ²  a leader ³  and return ⁴  to Egypt.”

Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you, and you will be ¹  defeated before your enemies.

All the Israelites ¹  who were around them fled at their cry, ²  for they said, “What if ³  the earth swallows us too?”

So Moses did as the Lord commanded; and they went up Mount Hor in the sight ¹  of the whole community.

That is why those who speak in proverbs ¹  say, “Come to Heshbon, let it be built. Let the city of Sihon be established! ² 

Then the Lord met Balaam and put a message ¹  in his mouth and said, “Return to Balak, and speak what I tell you.”

“Exact vengeance ¹  for the Israelites on the Midianites ²  – after that you will be gathered to your people.” ³
