When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought aromatic spices ¹  so that they might go and anoint him.

Jesus ¹  was going through the grain fields on a Sabbath, and his disciples began to pick some heads of wheat ²  as they made their way.

Simon’s mother-in-law was lying down, sick with a fever, so ¹  they spoke to Jesus ²  at once about her.

When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were sick and demon-possessed.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. And after looking around at everything, he went out to Bethany with the twelve since it was already late.

So ¹  while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, ²  and Andrew asked him privately,

When it was already late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is an isolated place ¹  and it is already very late.

Now ¹  as Jesus ²  was going out of the temple courts, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, look at these tremendous stones and buildings!” ³ 

And Peter had followed him from a distance, up to the high priest’s courtyard. He ¹  was sitting with the guards ²  and warming himself by the fire.

They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem. ¹  Jesus was going ahead of them, and they were amazed, but those who followed were afraid. He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was going to happen to him.

John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us.”

While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he said, “How is it that the experts in the law ¹  say that the Christ ²  is David’s son? ³ 

Then the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to release a prisoner for them, as was his custom. ¹ 

They came to Jericho. ¹  As Jesus ²  and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

But ¹  he was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?”

Day after day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, yet ¹  you did not arrest me. But this has happened so that ²  the scriptures would be fulfilled.”

These are the ones on the path where the word is sown: Whenever they hear, immediately Satan ¹  comes and snatches the word ²  that was sown in them.

In those days there was another large crowd with nothing to eat. So ¹  Jesus ²  called his disciples and said to them,

Just as Jesus ¹  was getting out of the boat, a man with an unclean spirit ²  came from the tombs and met him. ³ 

After looking around ¹  at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, ²  he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored. ³
