Then<n id="1" /> he said to them, &#8220;Watch out and guard yourself from<n id="2" /> all types of greed,<n id="3" /> because one&#8217;s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.&#8221;

Or those eighteen who were killed<n id="1" /> when the tower in Siloam fell on them,<n id="2" /> do you think they were worse offenders than all the others who live in Jerusalem?<n id="3" />

Then the Lord answered him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from its stall,<n id="2" /> and lead it to water?<n id="3" />

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,<n id="1" /> you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you!<n id="2" /> How often I have longed<n id="3" /> to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but<n id="4" /> you would have none of it!<n id="5" />

Or what king, going out to confront another king in battle, will not sit down<n id="1" /> first and determine whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose<n id="2" /> the one coming against him with twenty thousand?

I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner<n id="1" /> who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people<n id="2" /> who have no need to repent.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins<n id="1" /> and loses<n id="2" /> one of them,<n id="3" /> does not light a lamp, sweep<n id="4" /> the house, and search thoroughly until she finds it?

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:<n id="1" /> &#8216;God, I thank<n id="2" /> you that I am not like other people:<n id="3" /> extortionists,<n id="4" /> unrighteous people,<n id="5" /> adulterers &#8211; or even like this tax collector.<n id="6" />

But Jesus called for the children,<n id="1" /> saying, &#8220;Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God<n id="2" /> belongs to such as these.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">While the people were listening to these things, Jesus<n id="1" /> proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem,<n id="2" /> and because they thought<n id="3" /> that the kingdom of God<n id="4" /> was going to<n id="5" /> appear immediately.

telling them,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Go to the village ahead of you.<n id="2" /> When<n id="3" /> you enter it, you will find a colt tied there that has never been ridden.<n id="4" /> Untie it and bring it here.

and said to him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Tell us: By what authority<n id="2" /> are you doing these things?<n id="3" /> Or who it is who gave you this authority?&#8221;

They asked him,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Teacher, Moses wrote for us that <i><b>ifb> <b>a man&#8217;s brother dies leavingb>i> a wife but <b><i>no children, that mani>b><n id="2" /> <i><b>must marryb>i><n id="3" /> <i><b>the widow and father childrenb>i><n id="4" /> <i><b>for his brotherb>i>.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> this was<n id="2" /> John&#8217;s<n id="3" /> testimony<n id="4" /> when the Jewish leaders<n id="5" /> sent<n id="6" /> priests and Levites from Jerusalem<n id="7" /> to ask him, &#8220;Who are you?&#8221;<n id="8" />

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects<n id="1" /> the Son will not see life, but God&#8217;s wrath<n id="2" /> remains<n id="3" /> on him.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now at that very moment his disciples came back.<n id="1" /> They were shocked<n id="2" /> because he was speaking<n id="3" /> with a woman. However, no one said, &#8220;What do you want?&#8221;<n id="4" /> or &#8220;Why are you speaking with her?&#8221;

The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help!<n id="1" /> The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.<n id="2" />

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;If I glorify myself, my glory is worthless.<n id="2" /> The one who glorifies me is my Father, about whom you people<n id="3" /> say, &#8216;He is our God.&#8217;

But we do not know how he is now able to see, nor do we know who caused him to see.<n id="1" /> Ask him, he is a mature adult.<n id="2" /> He will speak for himself.&#8221;

When Jesus heard this, he said, &#8220;This sickness will not lead to death,<n id="1" /> but to God&#8217;s glory,<n id="2" /> so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.&#8221;<n id="3" />
