<p class="bodytext">For Moses writes about the righteousness that is by the law: &#8220;<b><i>The one who does these things will live by themi>b>.&#8221;<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

<p class="bodyblock">The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

I do not set aside<n id="1" /> God&#8217;s grace, because if righteousness<n id="2" /> could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing!<n id="3" />p>

The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law<n id="1" /> or by believing what you heard?<n id="2" />

Does God then give<n id="1" /> you the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law<n id="2" /> or by your believing what you heard?<n id="3" />p>

Now it is clear no one is justified before God by the law, because <i><b>the righteous one will live by faithb>i>.<n id="1" />

But the law is not based on faith,<n id="1" /> but <b><i>the one who doesi>b> the works of the law<n id="2" /> <b><i>will live by themi>b>.<n id="3" />

For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise, but God graciously gave<n id="1" /> it to Abraham through the promise.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now before faith<n id="1" /> came we were held in custody under the law, being kept as prisoners<n id="2" /> until the coming faith would be revealed.

And I testify again to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey<n id="1" /> the whole law.

For the whole law can be summed up in a single commandment,<n id="1" /> namely, &#8220;<b><i>You must love your neighbor as yourselfi>b>.&#8221;<n id="2" />

for the law made nothing perfect. On the other hand a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, since there are already priests who offer<n id="1" /> the gifts prescribed by the law.

Indeed according to the law almost everything was purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

But if you fulfill the royal law as expressed in this scripture,<n id="1" /> &#8220;<b><i>You shall love your neighbor as yourselfi>b>,&#8221;<n id="2" /> you are doing well.

For the one who obeys the whole law but fails<n id="1" /> in one point has become guilty of all of it.<n id="2" />

yet we know<n id="1" /> that no one<n id="2" /> is justified by the works of the law<n id="3" /> but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.<n id="4" /> And<n id="5" /> we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ<n id="6" /> and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one<n id="7" /> will be justified.

In<n id="1" /> everything, treat others as you would want them<n id="2" /> to treat you,<n id="3" /> for this fulfills<n id="4" /> the law and the prophets.p>

Or have you not read in the law that the priests in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are not guilty?
