But Jesus said,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Enough of this!&#8221; And he touched the man&#8217;s<n id="2" /> ear and healed<n id="3" /> him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then<n id="1" /> they arrested<n id="2" /> Jesus,<n id="3" /> led him away, and brought him into the high priest&#8217;s house.<n id="4" /> But Peter was following at a distance.

They<n id="1" /> blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Prophesy! Who hit you?&#8221;<n id="3" />

Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Look, he has done nothing<n id="1" /> deserving death.<n id="2" />

But they were insistent,<n id="1" /> demanding with loud shouts that he be crucified. And their shouts prevailed.

A great number of the people followed him, among them women<n id="1" /> who were mourning<n id="2" /> and wailing for him.

<p class="bodytext">One of the criminals who was hanging there railed at him, saying, &#8220;Aren&#8217;t<n id="1" /> you the Christ?<n id="2" /> Save yourself and us!&#8221;

At this point<n id="1" /> their eyes were opened and they recognized<n id="2" /> him.<n id="3" /> Then<n id="4" /> he vanished out of their sight.

Now<n id="1" /> during the blessing<n id="2" /> he departed<n id="3" /> and was taken up into heaven.<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> when the time came for their<n id="2" /> purification according to the law of Moses, Joseph and Mary<n id="3" /> brought Jesus<n id="4" /> up to Jerusalem<n id="5" /> to present him to the Lord

After<n id="1" /> three days<n id="2" /> they found him in the temple courts,<n id="3" /> sitting among the teachers,<n id="4" /> listening to them and asking them questions.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> was going through the grain fields on<n id="2" /> a Sabbath,<n id="3" /> and his disciples picked some heads of wheat,<n id="4" /> rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.<n id="5" />

The experts in the law<n id="1" /> and the Pharisees<n id="2" /> watched<n id="3" /> Jesus<n id="4" /> closely to see if<n id="5" /> he would heal on the Sabbath,<n id="6" /> so that they could find a reason to accuse him.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> it was during this time that Jesus<n id="2" /> went out to the mountain<n id="3" /> to pray, and he spent all night<n id="4" /> in prayer to God.<n id="5" />

When<n id="1" /> they came<n id="2" /> to Jesus, they urged<n id="3" /> him earnestly,<n id="4" /> &#8220;He is worthy<n id="5" /> to have you do this for him,

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now one of the Pharisees<n id="1" /> asked Jesus<n id="2" /> to have dinner with him, so<n id="3" /> he went into the Pharisee&#8217;s house and took his place at the table.<n id="4" />

So<n id="1" /> Jesus answered him,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Simon, I have something to say to you.&#8221; He replied,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Say it, Teacher.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;No one lights<n id="1" /> a lamp<n id="2" /> and then covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in can see the light.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Jesus&#8217;<n id="1" /> mother and his brothers<n id="2" /> came to him, but<n id="3" /> they could not get near him because of the crowd.

Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside,<n id="1" /> and the demonic spirits<n id="2" /> begged Jesus<n id="3" /> to let them go into them. He gave them permission.<n id="4" />
