Blessed is that slave<n id="1" /> whom his master finds at work<n id="2" /> when he returns.

For I tell you, not one of those individuals<n id="1" /> who were invited<n id="2" /> will taste my banquet!&#8217;&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

But<n id="1" /> the Pharisees<n id="2" /> and the experts in the law<n id="3" /> were complaining,<n id="4" /> &#8220;This man welcomes<n id="5" /> sinners and eats with them.&#8221;p>

Then<n id="1" /> after he had spent everything, a severe famine took place in that country, and he began to be in need.

Whoever tries to keep<n id="1" /> his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life<n id="2" /> will preserve it.

So<n id="1" /> he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree<n id="2" /> to see him, because Jesus<n id="3" /> was going to pass that way.

He answered,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I tell you, if they<n id="2" /> keep silent, the very stones<n id="3" /> will cry out!&#8221;p>

Then<n id="1" /> Jesus said to them, &#8220;Neither will I tell you<n id="2" /> by whose authority<n id="3" /> I do these things.&#8221;p>

So<n id="1" /> he sent another slave. They beat this one too, treated him outrageously, and sent him away empty-handed.<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">So<n id="1" /> Jesus said to them, &#8220;The people of this age<n id="2" /> marry and are given in marriage.

They<n id="1" /> devour<n id="2" /> widows&#8217; property,<n id="3" /> and as a show make long prayers. They will receive a more severe punishment.&#8221;p>

He<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="2" /> this poor widow has put in more than all of them.<n id="3" />

But when these things<n id="1" /> begin to happen, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption<n id="2" /> is drawing near.&#8221;p>

So also you, when you see these things happening, know<n id="1" /> that the kingdom of God<n id="2" /> is near.

I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> this generation<n id="2" /> will not pass away until all these things take place.

And he said to them, &#8220;I have earnestly desired<n id="1" /> to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

But Jesus said,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Enough of this!&#8221; And he touched the man&#8217;s<n id="2" /> ear and healed<n id="3" /> him.

Then<n id="1" /> Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, &#8220;I find no basis for an accusation<n id="2" /> against this man.&#8221;

And we rightly so, for we are getting what we deserve for what we did, but this man has done nothing<n id="1" /> wrong.&#8221;

and when they returned from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven<n id="1" /> and to all the rest.
