<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I baptize you with water, for repentance, but the one coming after me is more powerful than I am &#8211; I am not worthy<n id="1" /> to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.<n id="2" />

But if your eye is diseased,<n id="1" /> your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!p>

Jesus said to them, &#8220;The wedding guests<n id="1" /> cannot mourn while the bridegroom<n id="2" /> is with them, can they? But the days<n id="3" /> are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them,<n id="4" /> and then they will fast.

Now these are the names of the twelve apostles:<n id="1" /> first, Simon<n id="2" /> (called Peter), and Andrew his brother; James son of Zebedee and John his brother;

This is the one about whom it is written:p> <p class="otpoetry">&#8216;<b><i>Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,i>b><n id="1" />p> <p class="otpoetry"><i><b>who will prepare your way before youb>.i>&#8217;<n id="2" />p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> among those born of women, no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least<n id="2" /> in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is.

When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one<n id="1" /> comes and snatches what was sown in his heart;<n id="2" /> this is the seed sown along the path.

The<n id="1" /> seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth<n id="2" /> choke the word,<n id="3" /> so it produces nothing.

But as for the seed sown on good soil, this is the person who hears the word and understands. He bears fruit, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">He gave<n id="1" /> them another parable:<n id="2" /> &#8220;The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed<n id="3" /> that a man took and sowed in his field.

<t /><p class="bodytext">He told them another parable: &#8220;The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with<n id="1" /> three measures<n id="2" /> of flour until all the dough had risen.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

The field is the world and the good seed are the people<n id="1" /> of the kingdom. The weeds are the people<n id="2" /> of the evil one,

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure, hidden in a field, that a person found and hid. Then because of joy he went and sold all that he had and bought that field.p>

Then he said to them, &#8220;Therefore every expert in the law<n id="1" /> who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his treasure what is new and old.&#8221;p>

Isn&#8217;t this the carpenter&#8217;s son? Isn&#8217;t his mother named Mary?<n id="1" /> And aren&#8217;t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?

and he said to his servants, &#8220;This is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead! And because of this, miraculous powers are at work in him.&#8221;

When evening arrived, his disciples came to him saying, &#8220;This is an isolated place<n id="1" /> and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away so that they can go into the villages and buy food for themselves.&#8221;

So<n id="1" /> Peter said<n id="2" /> to Jesus, &#8220;Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, I will make<n id="3" /> three shelters<n id="4" /> &#8211; one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.&#8221;

While he was still speaking, a<n id="1" /> bright cloud<n id="2" /> overshadowed<n id="3" /> them, and a voice from the cloud said,<n id="4" /> &#8220;This is my one dear Son,<n id="5" /> in whom I take great delight. Listen to him!&#8221;<n id="6" />

And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye than to have<n id="1" /> two eyes and be thrown into fiery hell.<n id="2" />p>
